Question High carbs or high protein

I have been all over these forums and have noticed some people say high carbs and some people say high protein. I am not really talking about Atkins, or Keto just the 50/30/20 split of the carbs being the 50 or sometimes the protein. How do you know which one to go by. Does it make a difference. I am currently using the protein as my high. but I am wonderiing if It would be ok for me to use the carbs as my high. I do want the muscle definition and I do understand that you need protein for this. I just have seen some woman with muscles and they claim they eat more fruits and veggies.

I go back & forth -- just keep cycling my diet. The high protein, lower carb thing definitely leans you out but you need to do some carb refeeds in my opinion to keep energy levels up. Lately, I've been doing a 40C/30P/30F using only healthy fats & complex carbs in the a.m. to early afternoon & fibrous carbs from then on. I feel much more energetic now. I do think, however, your body adjusts & you just need to keep switching things up.

What are your goals? I assume you're dieting. Low carbs, high protein high fat is a ketogenic diet and there is much information in the nutrition/keto section regarding that. It involves a low carb diet throughout the week, with a refeed on the weekends where you take in a lot of carbs.

The reason behind this is the thought that carbs raise insulin levels and cause fat storage. When you starve your body of carbs, then you will burn fat as fuel.

There are many schools of thought. I recommend you try a few different things and see what works best for you.

If I were to have the highr carb than protein would this cause me to lose my muscle I have now, or can I even gain much muscle doing that. Or does this really all just boil down to depending on each body type is what your results would be.

I do go back and forth on the CKD diet allot. I am just not real impressed with eating so much greasy meats all the time. I could be a vegetarian if I did not think about. This is when I crave a cheeseburger.... :-)
