Ideas for paper on Importance of Proper Nutrition
Hey everyone, I have to write an informative paper for school, and I'm thinking of doing it on something related to nutrition. Does anyone have any ideas, points, or statistics on why proper nutrition is important? My "audience" is university students, so I have to explain to them why this information is significant and how it will affect them, etc.
Or can anyone think of any major "myths" about dieting and nutrition I can mention (like starving yourself will help you lose weight, fats will make you fat).
And one more thing. What food products can you think of that the general public thinks are "so healthy" or are great for weight loss, but are really just crap?
Thanks for any help...I know I have a lot of questions, but I'm trying to narrow down my topic somewhat!

I hated writing papers, good luck. I'd tie the myths into why proper nutrition is important.

Myth 1 - Lifting weights will make you huge.
Myth 2 - Carbs are bad
Myth 3 - Only bodybuilders need protein
Myth 4 - Its okay, its low fat
Myth 5 - Diet sodas are healthy
Myth 6 - Walking 15 minutes a day, three times a week will make you fit and healthy
Myth 7 - Its my thyriod
Myth 8 - If I sit on the couch with an electronic belt I will have a six pack in 6 weeks.
Ask your boyfriend, hes been around for far longer than the rest of us.

Thanks that's actually a huge help!
As for your ending comment, I'm going to ignore that. I don't understand where all of your hostility comes from.

Just show them the pic of a fat chich and anorexic chic, then take you take off your coat and have a bikini on. I am guessing you will get an A+++ then.

This may be too broad, but along the lines of "carbs are bad/fat is bad" maybe talk about how the body uses each of the macronutrients and then talk a little about micronutrients (antioxidants and phytochemicals) to address the importance of variety in your diet.
Or whole foods vs. (overly) processed and fake foods and how to create a balanced diet (pretty easy to address).
And I agree with dunkonu that your body makes a great selling point for eating well. LOL
