Tips on motivation to study?
I'm lazy and a procrastinator(no excuse, I'm working on it I promise!) and am wondering what a few of your guys' and girls' tips would be on finishing up the course and getting the certification.
I absolutely love training, but hate book work Any advice? I'm doing the ISSA, so far, it's easy, I just get bored with writing things down in the work book.
Maybe do 5 pages a day? How can I be consistent and hold myself accountable to it? I know some of you are very hard workers and will tell me to just do it, which I am trying, but it's hard when I don't have a family to provide for, etc.(no urgency)

There are no tips to movitation. If you want something badly enough, you'll do the work required to get it. The only 'tip' is to tell you to stop procrastinating and get the finger out (just being honest, not harsh).

Find a reason WHY you want the cert. Keep it in your mind, taped to tv, stuck on fridge, etc... Just do the work.

Try to explain everything you're learning to somebody who doesn't know the subject. Give life to your study material and be creative.

I'm working on my ISSA cert as well right now. I know it does get a little long with the writing and studying, here is how I go about doing it.
1) I read the unit once and just glance over all the main points.
2) The next day, I go back through the chapter and take notes on major points. The same day, I work on the corresponding workbook section. I either finish it, or do about half of it and then do the rest the next day.
3) I take the online quize after I finish the worksheet, and once I pass it, I re-read over the chapter summary to make sure I know my stuff!
Just keep reminding yourself why you want to be a trainer! Make a vision board if you want! Get a piece of poster board and cut out and paste any images and quotes that motivate you to work hard and that push you to train. You may be putting in a lot of hours right now, but it's only for a short amount of time and after that, you'll be certified to train and it will have been worth it!
Good luck! PM me if you have any questions about the ISSA stuff!

I'm also doing the ISSA course. Right now I'm in unit three and I find that the best way for me to study is to blow up the picture and stick it to the wall; throw a dart and wherever it lands give of the name of the muscle, it's origin and insertion, its action, and innervation.
It's just a fun way to study and then when o go through the guide I know more than I need to in order to fill in the blank... It also gives me something to do other than watch TV.

The things that you dislike to do can be improved if you try to find a way to make them FUN. For example: I dislike doing the dishes & laundry so I bought me a mp3 player to listen to while I do them. Reading text books is a hard thing to make fun. Maybe glance at a Muscle & Fitness magazine every so often to keep the reading fun.

no problem. another option for study is if you have an iPod touch. I hear it has some kind of anatomy app.
