Running On a treadmill vs Running on a Track

Is there any difference? If i run 3 miles in 24 mins on a treadmill would i be able to run the same time on a track?

i feel there is a difference... if i jump on the tredmill it says i ran but really i was jumping up, not jumping forward. hard to explain but i think its different

edit: oh and i read somewhere that 0% incline on a tredmill is equivalent to running on a slight downhill slope outside which is hard on your knees. you should always have it at a 1-2% incline. this came from somewhere on this site (not the misc, some published bb.com article)
