It depends how you squat and your individual strengths and weaknesses. Nobody can answer this better than you.

my core strength shot through the roof when i started front squating.

I think more people should do them.

Of course, my anterior leg strength has increased as well.

I don't think it will have much carryover to low bar back squat, maybe high bar back squat. It doesn't hurt to do them though and they do have good benefits, but I think main focus should be on the low bar back squat if you want that to increase.

In order to get stronger at a lift you train that lift, doing push ups wont make you bench huge #'s ext.

    Mostly, this.

I mean it can help your raw max on squat. Build core, and quads.

It's helped my deadlift alot though.

it's interesting you should say that. My deadlift seems unusually strong these days, and it just so happens I integrated front squats into my sheiko cycle only 2 months ago....

i wonder if there really is a correlation. Obviously there is for you...

what DL stance do you use?

I get more deadlift help that squat help from front squats. But then my front squat stance is closer to my deadlift stance than my squat stance.

Maybe I could type stance one more time.

Never experienced any carryover to my back squat. I did front squats exclusively for about two months, and got them higher than my back squat. My deadlift went up too, but I was doing a ton of deadlift work at the time.

Could you please elaborate how exactly they helped you? Say like what was the weight you started front squatting initially and what was it when you noticed significant improvements? And what were the improvements specifically?

I am thinking getting back to them to improve my back squats, I once worked them to 225x3 (from 95x5) but frankly did not notice much carry over to back squats, while the workouts themselves were extremely draining . - one of the reason I am reluctant to get back to them - so much effort expanded and not a lot of carryover to any of the main lifts

depends on where you're weak and again the form on the main lifts, if one is doing a PL (or even a Rippetoe) style squat I don't you'll see much carryover

I get alot of carryover but I squat with lots of knee drift.

I also noticed way more strength off the floor for DL's after doing FS's off a box consistently for a while.

They are great for your core but the question there is whether you can justify fitting a move like that into your routine if it's just for the "core" benefits.

I'm pretty sure I just parroted a bunch of stuff that has already been said... Crap.

FS's are just another tool in the toolbox. Don't expect some kind of precise formula like 500x2 on fronts = 700 on back squats.

I like front squats b/c I like strong quads. (THATS RIGHT I SAID QUADS YOU GOT A ****ING PROBLEM WITH THAT???!!)

Since I began doing them, my front squat max has gone ~ 200 to about ~290. My backsquat, which I'll be posting a vid of soon, has grown hugely because I began front squating in conjunction (on purpose) with a form change with my comp squat. My raw comp squat may have increased 30-40 lbs in the last eight weeks because of this. The real test will be this friday when I test-out before my 12 week comp-peak cycle. I believe the greatest benefit will be my core strength, which will carry over the most with my equipped lifting.

The deadlift is TBA. I'll let you know after April 25
