100lbs lost 100lbs to go.
I'll kick my first post off on the forums with the small story of my weight loss.
About 7 or 8 months ago, i was weighing in around 435lbs. Sitting at the edge of diabetes, suffering from hypertension stage 2 blood pressure (around 180/130 blood pressure on the monitor for me), suffering from issues of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (waking up with no air in my lungs/choking to death), and alot breathing issues and heart things. Top all of that off with my doctor telling me; you'll always have high blood pressure, you'll always have some form of heart problem because your family history and you may still eventually get diabetes.. you'll also need to be on blood pressure medication.
UNACCEPTABLE.
I don't think i've ever been so pissed off at someone telling me what i can't change and will be stuck with for the rest of my life, i refused to listen to that i'd be stuck like this forever. i'll admit heart problems run in this family, but i'll be damned if i'm not going to try and beat'em. Considering alot of overweight people adopt the "I accept me for me and i don't need to change" i did too at one point, but then i realized, if i didn't change me, i wouldn't be alive long enough to actually enjoy anything in life.
Things needed to change, sometime around last year or so me and my brother adopted a new attitude towards losing weight. He had started Power90, giving it a month trial run before he'd pass it onto me as it honestly looked like it'd kill me at that point. The results were there, i was ready to go! With the resounding thought of "Its this weight or Your Life". I count myself lucky to still be alive after carrying that weight for so long with no way to shed it and i saw something that looked like it'd actually work, so i took it.
I took it and ran. Heaven forbid if you start dieting/life style change, because everyone wants to bring you some sort of food item, seeming like they want to inventionally sabatoge you. But through all the small cheat days and holiday's and platue's i still managed to push and keep 100lbs of weight off.
No longer at risk of diabetes, my blood pressure resting around 135/98ish, energy levels plenty higher, body feeling a hell of alot better and looking pretty damned good :P considering there is still more work to go.
I don't have all those small stats that i probably should have but the general gist of it is:
age:24
5'11
438lbs
50%+ (i assume thats my bodyfat back at that weight)
60inch waist
http://www.milliondollarbody.com/bbs...Username=Ameno (photo is small but its the only before photo i can find right now)
to
age:24 (ugh 25 in a few days!)
5'11
328lbs
( :P no idea on the BF, really need to get one of those things)
48inch waist
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...0125091258.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...0125091259.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...125091259a.jpg
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...0125091301.jpg
Now i'm on the second leg to my first goal to reach at least 230lbs, but it seems my body is becoming alot more resistant to change. My current routine of power 90 cardio/sculpt 3-4 is still forming my body, but as far as the nasty scale goes i'm still sitting at this weight. So i figure i'm either converting fat to muscle or the workout is no longer working for me and i need to change something.
A few things i was kicking around and had saw on the forum was increasing calorie intake, weights, changing eating habit or routine.
I think my current calorie intake is around 1500ish, I only use about 15-25lbs when lifting. eating is typical some form of whey protein with milk, kay's natural protein chips, chicken breast, whole wheat pasta (rarely), whole wheat bread, peppered turkey lunch meat, just to name a few items.
At this point i'm wondering if i should be worrying about the scale or if i should look into boosting up more muscle as that would eventually help shed the fat as well. I know i need to increase my protein intake as i bareley make 170g's a day, mostly due to my hate of cooking chicken. I was thinking of just having two meals, where i'd take a double scoop of whey protein but i had read somehwere that taking too much whey protein each day could have a bad result.
Likely i'll come back with pictures /updates as the weight goes down. I'm happy with my current loss but there is so much more i want to do with it! must get ultimate body!

wow great story!
you have done an awesome job so far!
I agree on upping the calories,
If your like I was I tended to have a knee jerk reaction to upping calories, because I was afraid I would put my weigh t back on again.
But I had to because I got serious about lifting heavier, and its very dificult to lift heavy on 1500 calories.
I dont think going down to 2 meals per day is a good idea, I tend to spread mine out over 6 meals, not so much to keep blood sugar spikes down, I do it because I tend to over eat less that way, and its easier to monitor my macronutrients that way. I tend to not get those drowsy periods during the day if I eat more small meals, as opposed to 2 or 3 large ones.
Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks! Oops i didn't mean two meals a day my typical meal plan layout is 5. i was just thinking of having it set like this
Breakfast: Cereal or two servings of whey protein
Snack: kay's natural protein chips or a protein bar or turkey sandwich
Lunch: another double serving of whey protein (this is my post workout meal)
Dinner: usually chicken breast
snack: Whey protein
Just trying to boost my overal % of protein but i keep reading its better to get most of your proteins from solid food, except i'm too lazy to keep cooking and eating chicken all day long.

Way to go on your fat loss! Keep up the good work. I think it may be a good idea to switch up your routine since you have been doing it for so long. Your body will start adjusting to your routine, and perform more efficiently. You won't be burning as many calories as you did when you first started. Switch up your routine every few weeks, or mix it up from day to day to keep your body guessing.

Very inspiring! I like that you didn't just accept what the doc was dictating to you and you decided to do something about it. I hope the 2nd hundred is as easy as the first!

Sounds like the overall censues, SO IT MUST BE DONE! MWAHAHA!. I guess that gives me a reason to add a 6th meal to each day, will see how it goes. Not expecting overall great results with my birthday coming up in a few days, but after words, i think it'll do wonders, increase calorie intake with a changed exercise. hopefully i'll have managed to up my overall protein intake as well.
Honestly, i'd love to rid myself of the last 100lbs in the next 4 months, but i don't think my body likes the rapid weight loss so much.

Actually no, i haven't been back to the doctor since that day, i had actually changed doctors..got a weigh in and i haven't been back to one since, i haven't had any problems (That i can feel) that made mme feel like i need to go back. although i probably should..
Thanks for the list of foods, will ahve to look into some of those.
Was considering adding ground sirloin (90-95% lean) into my diet now and again for some beef, but iwas always afraid of hamburger slowing down results, any truth to that or would i be ok with it?

If you can, try eating steak over ground meat. I use to work in a meat packing place, and they use a lot of **** pieces of meat for burger.

Grades are based on the amount of marbling in the meat and the age of the animal. Marbling is the flecks and streaks of white fat you find distributed throughout the meat. In general, the higher the degree of marbling, the more tender, juicy, and flavorable the meat will be. Consequently, higher grade meats come at a higher cost. Age also plays in an important part. Beef is best in flavor and texture when cattle is between 18 and 24 months old, so the grading favors younger animals. There are eight distinct grades of beef recognized by the USDA. In order of descending quality they are:
Prime
Choice
Select
Standard
Commercial
Utility
Cutter
Canner
So you want a nice USDA Prime piece of meat. Which would be prime ribe or prime roast.

Hey man just wanna congratulate you on the job you've done so far..its incredible! Success stories like yours help to inspire and motivate many people including me.
And x2 on some doctors being total dumbasses. They told me for years I would never lose weight unless I popped expensive pills for my thyroid problem. By reading stories like yours I learned that success comes from within and no pill will ever do the job that good hard work and dedication will. Thank you for the inspiration and good luck with the rest of your journey!

Thanks man, rock on with your results too brother, lookin sharp! They always do crap like that, want to push you on something really expensive, that will take years and will always be costing you money. Ain't got years i'd want to waste, be lucky to even make it through most of them when you get up to that weight anyway.

If you'd like, you should start a weight loss log in the losing fat log section. I know it helps keep me accountable, and it's a good place to find additional moral support and encouragement.
I read all of the posts but I may have missed this: Have you calculated your BMR? Knowing your BMR can help alot when it comes to planning your meals and knowing if your creating the proper calorie deficit.
Do whatever works for you, but I know it helped me alot when I was putting my weight loss plan together.
Also, I've found that jumping rope is a great form of cardio for us big guys. It's cheap and effiicient.
I'm sure you prob don't know much about the rep system here, but I repped you for having such an inspirational story. Keep it up & don't quit even if the next 100 doesn't come off as fast as the first 100.

Congrats man.
If I were you, I would add some eggs (or Egg Beaters/Egg Whites) to your breakfast. It'd be a nice easy way to up calories and get some more protein. You could also eat Tuna for a meal.
Also, I like to buy bags of frozen mixed veggies, nuke the whole bag, and eat some with at least 2 meals a day. They're a very small calorie hit and provide good nutrients.

Keep it up & don't quit even if the next 100 doesn't come off as fast as the first 100.

i've been tryign to give rep back for each awesoe post i've seen, hehe no idea how the system works but . Actually i don't think i've calculated my BMR since i started a year or so back, i've been just going along with my put together idea of what might have worked. I suppose at this point omre detailing would probably help psuh it along, but i was trying not to get myself overwhelmed with too many things back then lol. I also did consider looking for a rope, sucks about the snow around here would love to do it outside.
Thedude, you're probably right about the eggs. For awhile there i was doing a 3-4 egg scrambled egg breakfast, with abit of cheese and a small bit of honey. was pretty tasty. Sadly i'm not much of a fish person, and not hardcore enough to stuff down foods i don't like lol.

There's no point to eat something you don't like.
I can not stand the countless amount of people cry on these forums about something they don't like, and then they post a thread asking how to make it taste good.
You don't like oats? Leave them to the horses.
You don't like fish? More fish for me!
You don't like chicken? Well, you better start!
Just remember everything you heard BAD about eggs, toss that **** out the window.
