Although I'm inclined to agree, the situation isn't the same. The first great depression was largely caused by bank manipulation, whereas this one is being scrutinized much more closely, meaning it's less prone to misconduct. A depression probably, but I don't think we'll reach Great Depression status.

Many of those jobs had to go because in the last few years in the BOOM times, those companies have put on too many employees to deal with ANY kind of slow-down, and now they are reversing some of it.

i disagree. bush v2.0 has proven that pumping money into the war machine doesn't do ****. the depression was well over by 1941. putting money into THIS country does good this country. and by that i mean real money. not printed money that's printed for the sake of funding.
