Im stuck and sick of the confusion
I consider myself rather nutrition savvy, but I read TOO much and just get confused, I have had some guys tell me to try and follow the Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle manual which I have, others say eat this amount for your body weight. I have a question that has been bothering me for years. I started reading the "Pimp my Diet" articles in Muscle and Fitness, and lets say how people say you need to get "X" amount of calories per pound of bodyweight to meet this nutrient minimum. Well for someone like me, who is sitting at 300 lbs, 6-1" tall, Why in the world would I eat protein per lb of bodyweight at the weight I am currently at? Isnt it when they say that they really mean, so and so grams per lb. of LEAN Mass??? I never did find a qualified answer. Everyone in the post your pictures section was really inspiring, I am one of the morons who just fell off the train and never really was on it I think.
I really want to lose a lot of weight for myself and to be healthy, for being such a big guy I DO tend to do a lot of activity, while I quit working out for a while now, I do ride ATVs alot and snowboard occasionally, yes it can be done being this heavy, boy is it a wake up call to my fitness level!
I want a diet that is DEAD ASS simple, that I can repeat every day, and from what I have learned besides the proper amounts, is 6-7 meals a day, evenly spread out, I know the clean foods and I know I need at least one high carb day or two to respark my metabolism. Now I know I might get a ton of replies from "know it alls" but I really do want an honest fact, not personal opinion. I tried to get a diet worked out with Lee Priest since hes been gone but hes a busy busy man and I never got anything beyond, eat clean, NO carbs after 2pm. Only salad, as far as carbs go I think, then he never got back to me. Someone PLEASE consistently help me out so I can get back on track, I am sick and Fuc&ing tired of being FAT!
Also I read new information about how you cannot really get too much cardio as well, I can do cardio like a mo' fo' but only on the elliptical because the other stuff kills my knees. I can get in honestly between 45-hr of cardio a day, someone PLEASE guide me, I have been strolling through these forums for a while and im kinda retarded so ive never really put anything workable together. You can reply on here or email me at jimmyhoffa59@yahoo.com ALL help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a lot of fat to lose, I'd consider keto. It's simple, easy to follow, tasty and something you can do in company or on holiday.
The basic keto diet is whole eggs, oily fish, steak and other meat, lots and lots of green vegetables, some olive oil, butter, cheese, nuts and seeds. Eat when you are hungry, stop eating when you are not. At your weight, rather than getting obsessed with counting calories, you'd be better learning to listen to your body and respond to what it needs. You don't even need to eat 6-7 times a day if you are not hungry.
If you are obsessing about grams of protein, aim for 1g per pound of lean mass. There is no point in working on total mass if you are carrying a lot of bodyfat.
What about cycling as your cardio? Get a good road bike, one with extra strong wheels if you intend to thrash it, and ride it everywhere. You'll get great cardio and save a fortune in transport costs.
When you go to the gym, concentrate on compound lifts like deadlift, squat, benchpress, dips, pull-up, stiffleg deadlift, military press, etc, and lift heavy.

If you are getting overly confused by specific diets, keep it simple.
Cut out all booze and caffeine, and don't ever drink any of your calories(water all the way). You're spot on with the 6 meals a day, to start keep the foods clean and eat until you are full. It will take a little while to determine how much you need to eat for yourself to not still be full when that next meal time comes around. Trial and error, everyone's body is different.
Iam 100% convinced that you do not have to count your calories, at least not when you are starting off. It is much more important to eliminate all stimulants (coffee and cola) and other appetite suppressants, if you learn to listen your body really tell you when and how much you need to eat, and when you need to rest. You'll feel amazing once you find the proper eating schedule.
Keep your foods clean, get proper rest, and remember it will not happen over night. It will be a long journey, do stress about busting out of the gates and getting it all done and right all at once.

Great advice here.
If you can only do the elliptical, then stick with it. You can throw in some walking to mix things up or as an alternative when you can't make it to the gym.

You can lose all the weight you want without any workoing out, you just have to watch your calories.
What I did was use Burn the Fat feed the Muscle. You have it so thats all you need. Now, dont look too far into it.
1- Figure your calories level, keep in mind that they are really measuring lean mass, not fat. The ones online will tell you to eat something like 3300 calories per day to lose weight which wont work. Shoot for around 2400. That will give you a good starting point.
2- Figure out some stuff you want to eat everyday that fits ythat calorie level. Go to the store and buy chicken breasts, cheap top sirloin steak, maybe some pork loin chops if they are on sale. Also get some canned veggies, particularly green beans. They are the lowest in calories. Buy eggs and a sack of apples as well. Get some Uncle Bens precooked brown rice in a bag. I also eat canned chicken salad sandwiches and low cal pringles.
Look at the other stuff you think you might want to eat everyday to work out to 6 meals and buy that stuff too.
Now lets look in the cart.
Meal 1- 5 egg whites, 1 whole egg, fruit.
Meal 2- chicken breast, rice, veggies
Meal 3- steak, veggies
meal 4- chicken salad sandwich and low cal pringles
meal 5- pork chop, rice, veggies.
Meal 6- whatever else you picked out.
In between meals you will need some 100 caloire snack like Yoplait light yougurt, 100 cal popcorn, etc. Whatever you want. Also have a second apple during the day sometime.
Drink a big glass of water when you wake up and with every meal at a minumum.
3- Write down and measure everything you eat, I mean everything. Make it a rule that if you dont know the calories, you cant eat it.
4- Dont worry too much about protein and carbs and macros and al that crap. You will have plenty of time to get that adressed as you progress. Keep it simple and it will work.
5- Dont be influenced by others. plot your course and do it.
Repeat this every day and you will lose weight.
I lost 130 lbs doing it.
Hope this helps.

^^Yet another solid post crupiea^^
I definately would recommend the above advice. Start there and make weekly adjustments.....if needed. If you trust some of the advice here, ask if you can consult with them privately by PM or email as you stated so you don't get so confused with all the "this is what I did, so do this" advice. Bottom line, everyone's body operates in it's own lane, you will find yours.
