Thoughts on what i should do?

ARRGGHH! I am so f'n angry with my self and i don't know if i will EVER lose this weight!

Problem: College student, broke as hell, eat what i can afford(i.e dollar menu at wendy's. Horrible, i know!), week before my period i get uncontrollable cravings for EVERYTHING.

I just don't know what to do because i lost weight over the summer and i am just gaining it all back. I can't really afford to eat like i want to. I cut out all the sodas and i don't drink anything but tea, water, lemonade...ect. Ya know all the non-carb stuff.

I am going to the gym 4 times a week but i know eating wrong voids it all out.

I LOVE food but i know i need to eat right. Please somebody give me advice on how to control these cravings and eat within my wallet.

If you're buying 2 things of Wendy's $1 menu at a time, you can eat clean for cheaper than that. You need to plan ahead and be willing to eat simply.

Eat chilli and get grilled chicken breasts (at wendys) and lose the bun when you want something else. Both are very good for you and pretty cheap.

I am a single mom and paying of student loans as well so I know how you feel. Here's some tips
Buy frozen Veggies (most are just as good as fresh and you won't end up throwing any of it away)
Drink water (don't spend your money on drinks with empty calories like soda or juice. Water is free)
Eat only a serving size( Chances are when you buy food for the house, you are eating more than you should be, pay attention to calories and serving sizes, and you can stretch it out alot further)
Buy Bulk when on sale(I do this with meat and oatmeal ,wait till it goes on sale)
Prepare large meals in advance(then freeze the rest in serving size containers that you can just pop in the microwave)
Hope that helps. Don't worry the weight will come off .you just have to make it happen!

x2. The dollar menu stuff seems like it's cheap but getting nonprocessed food from the grocery store is much cheaper in the long run. I was broke as hell myself early this month and I fed myself for two weeks for $40. And that was about 2200 calories a day. I'm sure you'd be eating less.

RE: cravings

I used to have the most horrible cravings for sweets and breads. On January 1st I made a commitment to myself to break the addiction. I quit all sweets and starches cold turky. 22 days later I don't even want the stuff. My cravings are gone. Just something to consider.

Stay stocked with these simple ingredients and you'll have no excuse why you can't eat clean. And, I guarantee it's cheaper in the long run than eating off the dollar menu.

eggs
ground beef
ground turkey
protein powder
rice
oatmeal
broccoli
green beans
olive oil
natural peanut butter

The real question is, does the OP have access to a kitchen? I agree that buying clean foods from the store is as cheap as the dollar menu--unless you don't really have a way to store and cook food. Then it's a bitch.

That being said, I wonder if the OP is taking part in a meal plan? Surely that would have better variety and access to healthy foods than Wendy's.

well i have made meal plans before and stuck to them but when the money began to get tight(college student...lets keep that in mind). The dollar menu was right up my alley and thats what began my descent from eating clean to eating ****.

Trying to get back on the horse though despite money issues

all you need to cook is a hotplate and a portable grill.

You could even get away with just a hotplate.

in fact thats all i had for an year when i was a student and i was able to cook myself 5 meals a day with no problems.

There are also portable fridges you can buy to store everything you need to be storing.

^^^^ I agree.

Or even just a George Foreman and a Microwave.
Cook your meat and veggies on the grill - Oats, rice, and even eggs can be done in the microwave.

No Excuses why people (even students) can't eat clean if they "really" want to!
