Cutting monounsaturated fats too?
Hey, I have been weightlifting consistently for a few months now and was wondering what your guys' advice would be on monounsaturated fats.
I generally eat a meal with protein and carbohydrates before my workout then after that another serving of the same thing. Throughout the day though all my meals include different forms of Monounsaturated fats(mufas), 1st is olive oil, 1 TBSP followed by almonds, pistachios, peanut butter, walnuts. All of these are spread about about 3 hours apart and are 1 serving(1/4 cub for the nuts is 1 serving).
I eat like this all the way up until right before my bedtime. The problem is that i'm trying to lean up, just want to loose about 7 lbs. I don't eat carbs later in the day, after 3 pm, but I continue with the mufas. Am I hurting my chances of leaning up by eating this way and just storing all those mufas as fat? I know it's good to cut carbs but should I just completely drop the mufas until I lean then go back on them after? So that's it, hope anyone can help, thanks for reading!

In my opinion nutrition isn't as important when cutting. It sounds rediculous but I think as long as you are under maintenance you can be somewhat lax with your diet. It should still be mostly clean for health reasons but macros don't have to be as set. I think it's when gaining that you need to keep it a little more on the healthy side.

All that matters is enough protein, micros, fiber, and some EFAs. That and your total caloric intake. Everything else is irrelevant for body composition.

Keep getting your mufa?s and pufa?s (specially w-3).
Mufa?s, such as oleic acid, reduce LDL and increase HDL. Besides that, they have a not totally explained correlation with antioxidant proprieties.
Another great reason for you to keep eating them is their role in increasing/maintaining testosterone/hormone production.

Don't cut your fats. If you want to lower calories, you can drop a little from P,C,&F.
