    Bloating from Protein Diet?

Question: I went cleaner on my diet and it basically consists of 100 gr. protein (powder, meat, etc.), with some veggies and some fruit (very limited though).
I had a flat stomach before, but now, I'm bloated. I look like I'm packing a four month old in there! HELP!
(PS. I'm using the bathroom regularly if that is a question of yours!)

Upping protein into the diet will do this, but it passes. What kind of veggies are you eating...because that could the issue too!

Maybe too much fiber, but I think your body will get used to it.

Hmmmmm, I would think it's the veggies, but everyone is different. Kimm knows her stuff. I am at about 150-180g protein and have not had bloating issues at all.

Could whey cause bloating problems for people who are lactose intolerant?

Never heard of bloating from protien, but fiber yes. If you fail to gradually increase fiber and start eating veggies in large quantities like you never had before, you'll get bloated. I'm struggling with that right now. But protien...don't have any insight on that one.

If by bloating, you mean gas....that's normal especially if you're using protein shakes that have concentrate.

Protein takes a long time to break down and digest. Any undigested protein pretty much sits in your gut and is known to cause gas/bloating. Also getting protein powders that are already hydrolyzed work better because the body will absorb immediately.

Make sure you're drinking enough water, because this will help the process for sure.

Thanks to everyone for their insight. In the past two days, I have upped my water ntake, watched the veggies I'm consuming, and it seems to be dissapating nicely.
As far as the calories that I am consuming: I do not count calories. All i know is that for my weight, it is ideal for me to eat about 97g protein daily. I am at 100g right now.
I am unable to do certain workouts right now due to an injury, so I wanted to stay modest with the upping of protein until I can resume a normal workout routine.
Again, a big thanks to all who helped answer my question!

I take it you have a lower laen body mass?

Even though you're unable to do certain workouts, I'm sure there's still SOME things you can do...

And remember, protein and fats are ESSENTIAL nutrients...carbs = not so essential.
