Eating Cottage Cheese right before bed... GOOD or BAD?

I read somewhere on this forum that eating cottage cheese before bed is good for you... Why is it good for you?

Also, what are some foods I can eat right before bed?

    Thanks

you can eat anything anytime. its all about how it fits in at the end of the day. cottage cheese has casein protein which is a slower digesting type of protein. just make sure you get in some protein before bed and your good to go. i usually have some type of meat with some fat.

    BUT

if it puts you over your calories for the day. my pre bed meal is actually usually one of my bigger ones. eating before bed is no different than eating any other time of the day.

it won't make you fat the way you think, no

as in it wont make you fat just because its after 8:00, or whatever time you are thinking

itll make you fat if you eat more than X, with X being the number of calories your body needs to maintain its current weight

no worries. its a myth. there are MANY of them that exist in the bodybuilding and nutrition world...

your body doesn't give a **** if its 3 in the morning or 8 at night dude. if you NEED 2500 calories, and you take in 2200, you will not gain weight. you can't. regardless of when.

same as if you NEED 2500, and take in 3000, but all of your 3000 goes in 3 hours before you sleep, you will still gain weight.

    make sense?

    It makes perfect sense....

I was confused because I thought that if you had a meal before bed that meal would just stay in your stomach while you were asleep and it would not be used up as energy therefore being converted into fat...

I understand what you mean.. Thanks a lot!

    Nonsense!

Your body is repairing itself at night dude, it needs some fuel to go! I always try to allocate a nice amount of carbs for my prebed meal.

Its all about daily totals dude...micromanaging is nowhere near as important. Hit your dailys almost however you'd like and you'll live life easier.

Yea, I'm coming off of being extremely cautious of what I ate, when I ate, proper ratios, etc and I feel much better giving myself the freedom to eat without having to worry about it. It's made me happier and probably reduced stress which is a great benefit.

If you can find some low fat cottage cheese, go for it man. Mix some fruit in and its quite a tasty dessert. Casein mixes with the acid in your stomach and turns very thick which means it digests much slower, and that means it will be hanging around longer detering catabolism during the night.

The whole "eating before bed will make you fat" is B.S. It takes your body anywhere from 12-48 hours to fully digest food.
