Food Standards (vegitarian, vegan, raw, no sweeteners, anything...)
I was just curious about what people's food stadards/morals/beliefs are about food...
I eat meat but only if it is organic, the enviroment and treatment given to the animal was acceptable by my standards, or if it was wild. I also make a point to eat raw meat as often as I can.
I don't eat sweeteners or anything artificial, eat about 80% of my food raw. I also take rice or soy protein because I don't drink milk...
So what do you guys got?

No honey, maple syrup, or molasses at all? Life just wouldn't be worth living without some sweeteners.
I prefer to buy organic, free-range, locally grown foods, but it's not always practical. Sometimes I have to buy the crap at the grocery store because in a time like right now when it's 15 degrees outside, there's just no farmers market in town.

I just buy the cheapest stuff I can find (eg, generic tuna, generic oats, generic chicken breast and thighs).

I don't care at all. I just don't eat trans fat or a lot of high-saturated fat food. The only organic things I regularly by are just organic by coincidence. My local milk suppliers don't use hormones, the only whole-grain things in the store are organic, etc.

I avoid sweeteners as much as possible, unless it's something I am adding myself like honey or agave nectar, but I do like the occasional dessert. No trans fat and splenda, etc. I take the time to read labels if I want anything packaged.
I prefer locally produced foods whenever possible. I eat whole foods for the most part - I didn't grow up eating many processed foods, so I've had to learn to pay attention to labels or just stick to whole foods.
I love sashimi and lamb (cooked).
I drink milk only because of lattes, but I'd like to give it up. I'm trying to find cafes near work that use almond or rice milk.
I avoid soy like soy milk or shakes, but will have small amounts of miso or edamame.

i tried veganism out of concern for the planet. it turned into concern for my health, because i was weak and lethargic all the time.
did some more research, decided it's not necessary to eat meat and chicken (especially given the amazing substitutes out there) but that fish and fish oil is too healthy to remove from my diet.
also, avoiding eggs and dairy is just about impossible unless you want to lead an extreme life (forget parties, forget eating out!), so i'd rather live and enjoy life. still, i do buy milk alternatives to drink (and mix with my whey protein!)
sweeteners: i opt for stevia, but i confess that i will use the yellow packets (splenda) at a restaurant, and i will buy products with splenda..although i do limit my intake. other sweeteners cause adverse effects for me personally, although i will try not to preach on this topic because it certainly seems to offend easily.
oh and while i'm on that last subject - i also try not to preach too much. if you want to "lead by example", that's one thing. but those people that push veganism and raw foodism and other extremes in your face and have that "if you don't do what i do YOU'LL GET CANCER AND DIE" are really quite annoying and ineffective.

i am a pancakeatarian, the FDA states that pancakes are the only food source that you will not get cancer from, and when you introduce butter and syrup to the party, the power of the pancakes negates any harmful effects they might possess.....

I only eat free range organic meats, wild fish and organic cage free eggs. For primarily health reasons but also animal cruelty reasons.
For everything else I eat the cheapest, most in season stuff I can find.
I always cook at a very low temp (eggs are boiled only, fish/meated are baked with water in the dish)
I eat tons of raw fruits, vegies, and almonds
I don't eat any grains (potatoes and sweet potatoes instead)

i also eat only organic meat, and dairy products. i dont consume ANYTHING that has soy or corn syrup, i dont do well with either, i also have a low tolerance level for yeast, basiclly the only bread i can eat is ezekial. i try to eat everything in the most basic form possible, i.e. minimum amount of added stuff. i also sometimes eat raw, though not meat, with my mom because thats what she does i love raw nut butters, yum

I buy organic whenever possible, although some things are impossible to find organic around here, and when you do find it, the prices are crazy (ie: avocados). I dont really buy processed foods (except the occasional loaf of ezekiel bread, if that counts).
No real moral reasons behind it, i do however think of the chickens whenever i buy eggs and make sure they were happy when they had them...they taste better when im eating the fetuses of happy hens.....mmm...
I just buy organic because i dont want to eat hormones and chemicals and crap in my food.

I buy as much local as I can...eggs, potatoes, spinach. The fruits and vegetables that I eat the most I try to buy organic when they are on sale. I don't really bother for organic with things I don't eat everyday.
If I'm out on a long ass bike ride, I just get in whatever I can.

i saw a tv show on turkeys, and free range is kinda funny, its pretty much like normal turkeys, except they give them a front yard and knock the sides of the coop off... according to this show the only thing that was different (in turkey standards anyways) was that they got to go out in the sun... and the non free range turkeys didnt look any more pissed off than the free range ones...

Haha I could spend hours discussing the best Mexican joints in the area with you..
Anyways, I try to eat as many real, whole foods as possible. I try to stay away from what an author I like calls "edible, food-like substances."

I dont eat any kind of meat because I just dont like them, but I dont consider myself a vegetarian since I drink milk and eat eggs. I also wouldnt mind to eat gelatin I do tend to be moderate with sugar consumption, only two days a week and non lifting days
