I'll be a geek for life, I just think the IT area I'm going for is a bit "noob unfriendly". No entry level stuff, no way to get experience. Hell the job I have now is only part time and the boss made it sound like someone would be there to help me out, but I'm really having to teach myself everything. Not going very well. Programming isn't very easy to teach yourself past the basics.

Thanks! I was pumped to finish that set but my legs feel the wrath now, lol.
Don't give up on IT just yet - try something outside of programming! That stuff will kill ya!
Very nice buy! I should pick one of these up one day.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No. 13

Hey what's up fellas.....and you too Blue? No workout today, working and don't feel like it. Back at it tomorrow, although I normally take 3 days off from the routine, tomorrow only makes 2....see how it goes.
Question Animal, or anyone really, when you say side raises are you simply standing up with barbells in your hands and lifting them up parallel to your body to shoulder height?
I do "bent over raises" on my off day, because I have always been weak with them and like the increase in strength I've seen with them. I put my head on an inclined bench as I bend over and do the same lateral raise.
Just wondering if one was considered better than the other for shoulders. Its an extra exercise I throw in, so not too worried if it would be better to change it up.
Just curious.
Oh I really would like only the experts to answer, as I've read in another thread that a lot of you don't know what you're talking about.

The bent over raise is a rear delt exercise, or if you carry the movement to far it becomes a trap exercise.
The side raise is for the side delts only, provided you keep the bumbells in the correct plane otherwise you recruit the front or rear delts to help with the movement.
Thanks--- I got the sarcasm in that one

The trick to side delt laterals is the position of your wrist/hands. Pick up a pair of duumbbells and do it your way..
Now try it with your wrist rotated ( Forward )while arms out to your side where your pinky knuckle is around 12 o'clock or 1 o'clock which is facing up . Your thumb knuckle will be facing almost down at around 7 o'clock or 6 o'clock .
This way you really hit the side delts but you will have to go a little lighter with the weights until you get use to the wrist being in this position. When it becomes second nature up the poundage.
Do not tighten up in the trap area (Relax that area) when doing side delts..just think side delts."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."~~~Benjamin Franklin

Ok, so my routine is concentrating on large compound movements without ISO exercises.
I'm doing the raises as an add on because I've never really worked my shoulders and it gave me a good reason and day to throw em in. Not wanting to get all crazy with ISO's, but would one of these be better over the other for general shoulder development?
I hope that dude was just a troll. As far as I'm concerned he used the uniform to make a point. I tried to thank him for his service, then find out he was misrepresenting his statements..... embarrasing.
If not a troll he's just a f@ck. I went to highschool with a man who did lose his leg in Iraq......protecting this f@ck's freedom to be a f@ck.....the words are escaping me....but you probably get my point.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

I'm ok with using lighter weights if necessary. One of the cool things about having a gym in my basement is there's absolutely no awkward moment when I pull out the pink vinyl weights
I will try your suggestion on Sunday when I lift on my "off" day.
Thanks Blue, your my boy.

i usually start out this way, get about 8-10, then just kinda tip my wrist back a little to get more. not sure if this is proper, but it's working for me.
how long have you been lifting blue? i'd guess a long time, or you've done tons of research, or both. you are to exercise help what ferrum was for equipment. that's a great thing!"If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." -Thomas Paine

Going to get some dumbbells. Will post on it later. Guess this means I am going to sell my powerblocks. I have to leave in about an hour to get them.

Animal - I stopped by harbor freight today. This will be on sale for $89 in a couple weeks. Includes shield and flux wire. Think it will be okay for welding together 14ga tubing?
