Question How Long Does It Take You To Get Used To Your Bulking Diet?

    Hi.

How long does it take you to get used to your bulking diet?

I'm asking cause it took me ~2.5 hours to eat 3 cups of dry instant oats with some maple syrup for taste, cause I felt really full and/or sick trying to eat it all, AND that was my first meal of the day . . .

    Oats Before

    Oats After

Try eating something else. As long as daily protein intake is high enough and calories are setup correctly, it's OK.

No time. And I eat more oats than that in 1 sitting.

If you can't handle oats, eat flapjacks instead.

It probably won't take that long...

Are you eating 3 cups measured RAW oats? Because that's a good deal, around 900 calories worth. You might be meaning to eat 3 cups measured cooked?

Nope. But if you feel full after a certain amount of eating there's nothing you can do about it. The only way out is to eat something denser in calories with somewhat similar ingredients. Like flapjacks.

No I'm going by dry oats right out of the bag. Then I add some syrup for taste to the 3 cups of dry oats, and then I add water.

Did you transition straight from a cut to a bulk?

That is not the most efficient way and will usually lead to unneccessary fat gain. Try slowly upping your calories, add 200 calories a week to transition back to maintenance and then slowly go up from there.

That plan could be better, i.e. you should always ensure that you have a steady supply of carbs to fuel your workouts. Oatmeal before workouts with whole eggs and a handfull of almonds.

I'm just doing carbs right now for my post-workout, and then later on I'll probably try a mix of carbs and protein post-workout.

I only eat oats cooked as oatmeal on a cut, not when I'm bulking since it blows up so much when you cook it. If you want to eat oats, just toast a whole tray of them in the oven with some honey as granola, and then eat it with milk. Also, 3 cup of oats for breakfast is kind of extreme, isn't it?
Back from my second rotator cuff injury... back to bulkng, trying to gain 8lbs over the next 8 weeks...

It takes time and a lot of concentration.

I remember having a problem with oatmeal (I eat 2 really big bowls of oatmeal).

I just thought to myself, "I'll get this down. It's going to be easy."

5 Cups of Oatmeal in a day? Wow.

I only eat 1 cup per meal and that already is a lot. Just throw in protein powder and lots of peanut butter and you have a good meal...

Damn. That's a lot of oats. Cooking it will definitely make it more edible, but you might want to consider mixing in some other types of carbs too. That much oats is going to cause some pain on the toilet.

You should probably eat protein postWO now. Why are you putting it off until later?

I'm already getting 30 grams of protein from the dry oats:

5g of protein per 1/2 cup of dry oats (that's what it says on the nutrition label on my bag of my oats)

Six 1/2 cups of dry oats (a.k.a. 3 cups of dry oats) x 5g of protein = 30g of protein

Are you really going to consider oats as your primary protein? I'm sure the quality of protein and it's BV isn't the greatest.

No. I'm also eating 1 lb of ground beef, 4 eggs, 1 cup of almonds and 1 cup of walnuts per day for other protein.

at first bulking isn't easy! i usually start my diet on the weekend on my off days b/c generally all those extra calories make me want to sleep.

try eating other protien sources other than ground beef. Considering its just floor scraps and other inedible cow parts!!

It's 100% grass-fed organic beef and grinding that specific type of beef up is the most popular way for the butcher to sell it. He does have grass/grain-fed beef in a bunch of different cuts, but I just wanted 100% grass-fed and ground was my only option.

I'm also eating eggs, oats and nuts for other sources of protein.

I like beef more than chicken, but I am also eating eggs, which come from chickens.
