Is there a difference between Cacao and Cocoa ?
I have found some baking bars there actually use 100% Cacao, non-alkalized. Been eating abt 2oz a day, and I find that I have been getting more pumps while working out. Word of caution tho, dont eat them too near bedtime. Its gonna keep you up.

Also, see my sig... insulin control is a big player in the anti-aging/health community. Ortho Glucose II looks like one of the most promising products in that regard I have seen... it was just released.
Insulin control has been my #1 aim these last 3 months or so, trying to get out there and get as much information on triggers, plus ways to control it, and use it, regulate it.

Looking forward to Driven Sports new health supp, that looks like will be aimed at Insulin control much like Matt's GXR was.

Are you taking it 3 times a day? I need to add up the amount of Vitamin B6 that is in all of the other supplements I take.

The maximum amount you are supposed to supplement with B6 a day is 100mg, although no adverse effects have been seen in any dose 200mg or under. AOR Advanced B has 99mg of B6, and I'd rather not take much more than 100mg a day.

Wasnt the adverse sides noticed in 200mg dose in one sitting, not spread out through the day...

Since its water soluble the 100mg+ wouldnt accumulate in the body, so as long as the dosing is spread out I dont see a problem with 100mg +

Actually I have forgotten the answer to this question, but it would make sense that the adverse effects occurred when taking that much B6 at once.

Another thing would be... Do the adverse side effects only occur with Pyridoxine Hydrochloride? Or does P5P pronounce the same side effect of heptatoxicity as well at the higher dosing?

I can't find the study anymore, from what I did find though it just seemed to say that doses in excess of 200mg per day for extended periods of time may cause B6 toxicity

Sensory neuropathy typically develops at doses of pyridoxine in excess of 1,000 mg per day. However, there have been a few case reports of individuals who developed sensory neuropathies at doses of less than 500 mg daily over a period of months. Yet, none of the studies in which an objective neurological examination was performed reported evidence of sensory nerve damage at intakes below 200 mg pyridoxine daily (24). To prevent sensory neuropathy in virtually all individuals, the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine set the tolerable upper intake level (UL) for pyridoxine at 100 mg/day for adults (see table below) (7). Because placebo-controlled studies have generally failed to show therapeutic benefits of high doses of pyridoxine, there is little reason to exceed the UL of 100 mg/day.

lol and I didn't even know there was a liver issue, my main concern was with the sensory neuropathy

Interestingly enough, you can have the same neurologic result - paresthesias in overdose. This is one of those reasons overdosing Vitamin B6 and beta-alanine is NOT considered a wise move.

Depends on so many things - it is never as easy as it seems and/or as literature or self-report makes it. We can talk about absorption problems which certainly are unique to each person but make a unified offering on many vitamins and minerals quite challenging (there are for instance a lot of drug interactions like women on oral contraceptives who certainly have issues absorbing B6 - so their need is likely increased).

2-5 grams over longer periods can cause generalized paresthesia (like beta-alanine, but this one won't go away). Still, there are a few case reports of as little as 500mg causing sensory neuropathy in the quoted "stocking-glove" pattern (essentially this means covering the hands and feet). Further a concern yet still is that case reports of as little as 50mg prior to the nighttime hours could cause insomnia or even anxiety - this last one can be prevented by usual co-administration however with magnesium.

My recommendations on its use usually center on using it whenever you ingest protein and/or fats co-administered with Vitamin B12 for many reasons, but I wouldn't encourage using more than 50mg of pyridoxine and probably no more than 25-50mg of P5P (though the need of this later form is debated at many times, outside of maybe around the workout or where you would need rapid oral bioavailability).

I thought P5P was a better form to take everyday than b6 because of the absoprtion and toxicity.

I will check if I still have the studies later today but the toxicity with b6 was for a very long period of time at 200 mg. 400 mg seemed to be the limit in term of occasional dosing.

    Edit : thanks Kerplunk

Yes, P5P is the active form of B6 in the body. The pharm companies are trying to snatch it up though. Im having trouble locating anything regarding the toxicity of acute and chronic mega/high dosing of B6.

I ordered 5 bottles of the Omega 3 Mood formula, GMP certified @ 1000mg EPA and 150mg DHA, I'm happy. Pretty decent price also.

That's because toxicity seems to be relatively low, although high doses (several grams/d) have produced sensory neuropathy marked by changes in gait and peripheral sensation. Many of the signs of B6 toxicity resemble those of deficiency.

Not too much at all, the Ubiquinol, 2 bottles of Omega 3, and SAMe ran around $70 with free shipping, and the B Complex was 20 dollars. Then I ordered 3 more bottles of the Omega 3 because of a sale and I had a $10 coupon.

Also, with the B-Complex, I've gone down to only taking 2 a day, in addition to 3000mcg Sublingual Methylcobalamin.
