    partially torn supraspinatus!

Hey guys as stated I am dealing with a partially torn supraspinatus tendon as a result of a rotator cuff impingment and heavy incline bench presses.
I am going physio and rehabing religiously but realize this is going to take some time to heal. That being said what do you think is the best support product for this? I am leaning towards USP labs Super Cissus but any other opinions would be appreciated.

Have to get this fixed before what little muscle I have fades away!!!!

    thanks,

    F.

Have you seen a specialist? Depending on the degree of impingement you may be a candidate for an operation called 'subacromial dilatation', that shaves a bit of bone off the acromial process allowing a larger passage for the supraspinatus tendon and relieving impingement.

i dont know what i have, but i havent done any presses in 2 months and taken gym time off totally for some weeks also. I cant do any presses, dips, but i think i can do shoulders, but havent. my pain is in the front of shoulder. its so annoying. Strengthening rotator cuffs have done nothing. I should get a MRI, why is this just not going away naturally.

    Torn Supraspinaturs tendon

    sorry to hijack the thread,

I just received my MRI results and my worst fear is confirmed.

Here is what the MRI report says

"The supraspinatus tendon is irregular and atropic. There is little evidence of any significant residual high signal associated with the tendon but the appearance are abnormal and are likely to be consistent with a tear of the supraspinatus tendon" everything else appears in the normal range

Does this mean they can't see my supraspinatus tendon? (forgot to ask the doc as I was shattered) does it mean a full tear or partial tear? if it is a full tear and atropic can they still attach it back? I had this problem for months now and it gradually got worse.

I am very worried, I have been lifting for 5 years and doing martial arts for 10 pretty consistently. I'm 25 male, 154 pounds at 5'7 with 9% bodyfat all year round. I still have full ROM with only slight discomfort raising my arm over head.

Been training very hard for the past 1 year only for this to happen, I am in the best shape of my life.. what is my long term and short term prognosis?

    can cissus rx help?

Thumbs down Do I need surgery?

I recently had an MRI, but its just like a foreign language to me. So any help would be very appreciated. My MRI read as such:

Findings: there is an articular surface tear involving the mid fibers of the supraspinatus tendon for a width of 10mm and a height of 4mm. Fluid in the subacromial subdeltoid bursa. There is a mild amount of fluid in the subscapularis bursa.

The biceps tendon and tendon anchor are intact. There is no definite abnormality involving the labor and evident.

A type II acromion with moderate AC joint capsular thickening anterior osteophytosis contacts the distal supraspinatus muscle, with mild impingement.

No significant articular surface chondromalacia evident. Normal sludge is seen. Moarrow signal is well-preserved.

I am very physical and strong, and my question is: will the tear in my tendon make me really susceptible to further injury when i can lift heavy again? The reason I'm so worried is because i tore the same tendon off the bone on my left shoulder 2 years previously. Again, any help is appreciated and thanks again for your time.

That is a pretty big partial tear...

With proper rehab you should be fine... but it's by individual case basis if it progresses worse or stays the same after that.

Thank you again for your time. I have a couple more questions if that's ok.

    1. Is there anything i can do, or supplements I can take to prevent further tearing or make tendons stronger?

    2. How do they repair a tendon with midfiber damage like that?

    3. If I took care of my tendon, would i be power lift or bodybuild with my tendon like that?

    1. Well, you can supplement with stuff like glucosamine & chondroitin, but I'm not sure that it would necessarily help.

    2. Sew the ripped part together.

    3. Of course, once it heals and you go through proper rehab progression.
