Whenever the topic comes up on who the most ripped bodybuilders were, without hesitation (and rightly so) the first two mentioned are Andreas Munzer and Rich Gaspari. However, there was an Ironage era bodybuilder from Belgium named Pierre Vandensteen, who could hold his own with almost anyone I've seen in the conditioning department. His career spanned from 1957-1978. Its too bad that some great champions are overlooked because bodybuilding is so huge, with so many competitors and so much history.

Holy Retro Ripped Physique Batman!
''There’s this battle over waterboarding at places like Guantanamo Bay. I think that they should just say, “Hey, if you guys don’t talk, you have to see Hercules In New York.” I guarantee those guys would talk much faster. You don’t need to do waterboarding or anything else. That’s the ultimate threat.''

I read an article on his training methods once. They were EXTREME to say the least. He would train for three hours, six days a week. He did about 400 total reps for his abs, which was considerably less than many at that time who were doing up to 1,000. The article stated he used deep concentration rather than many reps for his abs. The part I found very interesting was that he did a total of 100 SETS for his arms. 40 sets for biceps, 40 sets for triceps and 20 sets for forearms! Insane!

you guys are making me feel REALLY old! LOL...
I BOUGHT that magazine when it originally came out!
those old muscle/builder power mags were just terrific back then....
at one point, I simply couldn't hold on to them anymore, so, I cut out the articles that interested me the most and chucked all of the old mags....
at that point, I had almost all of the training booklets that guys like Arnold, Franco, Bill Pearl, Larry Scott and several others had...still have all of those.....
