hanging on pullup bar help forearm??
title: does hanging on a pull up bar help build forearm? what about hanging on the bar and have a slight pull as if your trying to do a pull up but applying little strength in pulling yourself up. this is hand facing in front of you.
or does anyone know any beneficial ways to use a pullup bar other than pulling up on it? like maybe using it to stretch too? thanks!

Hanging on a bar and doing anything works your forearms. Deadhangs are good. One arm deadhangs are better.
Other exercises?
Leg Raises.
Front Lever progressions (the BEST ab exercise god created)
Back Lever (cexy + good for back/tri's)
Muscle up's (tricky to get, but great for both tri's and back. Pullup into a dip on the bar, they take a while to train for).

I think I read somewhere that hanging from the pull-up bar is a good stretch.

to add, that reminds me.. when doing ab training i occasionally hang from the chinup bar and do leg raises. those really hit the core and build balance IMO..

Levers are great because they are all progressions. Just start in the basic tucks and take it from there.
Look them up individually if you want more detailed advice.

Yes it will help build your forearm, shoulders, biceps, and grip.
Although you may want to make sure you're doing this exercise properly.
If you're hanging and your arms are extended so that your arms are locked at the elbows you're doing this incorrectly.
You want to make sure you grip the bar tightly with your hands and hang so that your elbows are slightly bent not locked. You'll find by doing this if you squeeze the bar tightly with your hands you're really going to hit your forearms.
There are multiple ways to perform this exercise as well. Personally if you're concerned on forearms i would do them in a chin up fashion, with your palms of your hands facing you, hanging.

I heard that michael jordan hung on a pull up bar a lot and it stretched out his back enough that he grew a couple inches in about 2 months of doing that. this was after he was supposedly fully grown

Towel chinups or hangs. Builds forearm strength better than just using the bar. Drape a thick towel over the bar, grap an end with each hand and go to town.
