Nothing gets me through a set of grueling deadlifts like a three song block of Yanni.... lol. kidding..
I like to workout mostly to rock.. I like that old school british punk and some of the older american hardcore punk like black flag and dead kennedys. Metal is also good... even some of what might be considered 80s hair band stuff is good like Motley Crue's Dr Feelgood and Skid Row's "The Threat"...
Industrial metal like Rammstein is always a winner as well
And believe it or not, James Brown. It's not that up-tempo but listening to his lyrics and the way he sings makes me feel like I'm the ultimate bad-ass that can do anything. lol.
if you need specific songs, I can list them as well.

<sarcasm>what's this ihpod that everyone keeps talking about?</sarcasm>
I just listen to what the gym pipes in... even then i'm not really "listening" i just hear it, I'm too focused on what I'm doing to really listen to anything... people usually have to address me twice before I understand what was said to me.
Actually, "that's alright momma" is on my ipod.... Gotta love the king
The King? You mean Buddy Holly?

There's just too many great songs out there and this type of thread is done over and over but for me you can't go wrong with anything Metallica or AC/DC when it comes to workout music.
I have a huge MP3 collection of this genre. I listen to now what I did when I had the body then I am trying to get again now! Talk about muscle memory!
This is from 03'....they still have it:
