Who hates their calves?
I already have enough trouble as it is building legs but calves are just a whole different thing to deal with.
If I don't work my calves, I'll get the chicken-leg look (lower half only).
No matter how long and hard I work them, I don't get the desired look.
Anyone else share my pain?
Any advice???

There are people here in the Philippines who ride on pedicabs whole day & 7 days a week (bicycles with a sidecart for 2-3 people) for a living. A lot of them would be calorie deficient and malnourished and you could see it in their upper body. However their legs, most especially the calves and hamstrings are well-developed.
So I bought an exercise bike, put it on high tension and raised my seats ala a pedicab driver and used it 5x a week straight for 30 minutes or so.
I have had better calf development compared to raises ever since.

Why do you think the old stories tell of men who set out on great journeys to impress the gods? Because trying to impress people just isn't worth the time and effort.

A combination of low and high repetition work has benefited me.

I think my calves are decent, but they are very uneven. I broke and paralized one of my pinky toes when I was 3. That minute lose of stability caused that foot to be slightly flat footed. So I can never really have a great pair of calves just from the way I'm forced to walk.
