Leg pressing: taking back off?
When leg pressing, everyone warns not to let the ass raise up, because that causes back strain or something. What I'm wondering though, is can you take your back off it? Like just be pressing through the ass touching the crease of the sled and that's it? I figure putting all your weight there is the best way to avoid having it come up righ? That's where most of the weight's probably going anyway I figure.
The main thing to avoid would be leaning forward onto your legs since you might start to push and assist the legs, and that shouldn't be done except maybe the final rep to help get the sled locked out to put the safeties back. That's not something I need to do because I use a horizantal leg press, it's easier to switch and stuff. I don't plan to use the plate-loaded one until I max the pulley one, save the heavy ones for the stronger guys.

Are you referring to horizontal lp? I assume you are not, so we'll go from there. If you raise your back up off the pad, then you won't be able to go to parallel or close to because your knees have to come down to your chest. I go till my ass starts to lift then press back up.

Actually it is the hoizantal leg press, it's the one where the platform doesn't move and instead the seat you're on moves, hooked up to the weight pulley.
Maybe I'm not using enough RoM for the chest getting in the way to be an impediment. What I'm thinking is, have the chest lifted, and then when the knees touch the chest, you can lower your chest to give them more room?

Oh ok, mis understood then. Yeah, you can raise your chest up on the hlp if you'd like but then you have to hold the pad up with your hands instead of yoru shoulders. I'm not sure what your wanting to accomplish here. Why not just use the sled type with a couple 45's?

I get really bored so I like to change the weight a bunch, you can do that really quickly on the horizantal one. Doing it on the normal one is a huge hassle, I could squat with the amount of time that takes.
