Can you use eggs after the expiration date on the carton

Can you use eggs after the expiration date on the carton brahs? I found some I didn't know I had and the expiration date is Dec.21st,2008. Would it be safe to eat these bad boys? Hard boiling them ATM and want to know before I get going.

I've read about 3 different things about them. One says you can eat them 3 weeks after the expiration date, the other says its bad and one told some kind of test they done with floating an egg or somethin lol...

I've eaten eggs up to 2 weeks past expiration date, and they were fine. Use your judgement. Crack one open; and if it smells like sulphur, throw it out.

you can also test them in water. fill up a cup and put the egg in if it floats then its bad.

use the old floaty sinky trick.

Fill a shaker bottle with water and drop an egg into it (gently obviously)

A fresh egg will lie on it's side, a dubious egg will stand on end (which is a judgement call on your part as to whether you're gonna use it), a totally dodgy egg will float.

Softly shake it and if it's loose then it's probably not good. You'll know by the smell though.

I just read on http://www.agr.state.il.us/programs/...consguide.html eggs can be fine up to 7 weeks if stored correctly. I think im fine, thanks for the response though, bro.

Just done this test. They sink. I shouldn't even had to do it considering I got eggs boiling right now. lulz ty brah..

Shaking it after boiled isn't going to do ****. Open it. If it smells good eat it.

That date is a "sell by" date. It depends on a carton by carton basis. I've had milk that was still fresh over 2 weeks after the date, and also have bought milk 3 weeks before the date and it was bad right out of the store.
