Ground beef VS Ground Turkey
If I buy 93% lean ground beef or 93% lean ground turkey. What are the pro's and cons. Is one better for you than the other. I want to know which one should I get. I am trying to lose fat and increase muscle.

I eat both. You can make yourself crazy overanalyzing these things.

I think the main diff would be the cholesterol if both were equally lean right?

7% turkey fat vs. 7% beef fat. Hummmmm. Ummmmm. OK show me the beef. There I will get more natural creatine and B vitamins.

Baldie is correct: the only impetus towards chicken and turkey is less fat...if he fat is equal, beef would get the nod.....
I have a butcher who makes me 98 percent fat free burgers....a tad expensive, but well worth it.....

Just for the record, it's not the only impetus. Eating beef every day would bore me.

I usually eat ground turkey 80% of the time and use beef 20% of the time, just for variety. Ground turkey is very good in spaghetti sauce and in chili. Stay away from ground chicken - cooks up too dry for my taste.

Both. They are both protein. Don't forget good old Chicken and Fish. Pork is the only one I don't eat as much of (taste).

I really enjoy both, but personally, I'm stronger when I eat more red meat.

I have used both. Anymore I go for the turkey becasue its cheaper and they have preformed burger patties.
They are about the same calories so its really up to you.
I make chili with the turkey and I cant really tell the difference.
Just get the cheaper one.

The thought of ground turkey makes me gag. The only turkey and chicken I eat is the white meat.

--In all honesty, I have not researched which is better, in terms of overall calories. If I had to guess, I would say that very lean turkey is extremely low calorie, compared to its beef counterpart. But I do use both, with an emphasis on the turkey. I usually saute it with some onion and garlic; very lean meats need some help in the flavor department.

I too would go with beef. I'm so sick of chicken breasts, worse than eating tofu.. yes, of course you can add so much to them to make them palletable, but then you may as well just had a good sirloin steak with black bean salsa. mmmmm.....
Pay more attention to the excess sugars and carbs you're ingesting than the fat. Especially the sugars.

beef flavor is really hard to beat, i mix it with ground beef to get the flavor with less fat.
The really lean meat is expensive and very similiar to Turkey flavor wise, but after reading this thread I might take another look at working with it.
Frankly when feeding all four+ ( guests as well ) of us, nobody notices the Turkey added to ground meat.

I'm not really concerned about the fat or cholesterol content of my meat. I eat it for the protein and taste.
