He is a professional strongman.
Nick W. is a national/world champ, ****loads of records, etc.
You have some very talented people here giving you real advice. And it is good advice.
Every single person who posts here is open to criticism. Without critical review, mistakes get repeated, and become bad habits. Over time, this leads to injury, not just directly, but via muscle imbalances, poor recruitment patterns, etc. In this thread you have people basically telling you that you are strong, and can get stronger, but your number one goal should be to work on your technique to avoid injury.
So complete strangers are trying to help you not only get stronger, but avoid injury as well, and you are complaining?
This baffles me.
Everyone else: Please do not allow this to turn into a flame-fest like these threads often do.
Thanks guys,
Eric

Proper training
First of all I would recommend that you find a bench press competitor from your area. Someone who knows proper bench press training methods. Read all you can about the bench pressing. Lots of sites to go to on line. Watch videos. utube has some good competition bench clips. Widen your grip lower the weight to a weight you can handle with out the spotter touching the bar. All the spotter should do is hand off the weight and help you rack the weight when done. He is there to spot you in case of an emergency. He is not there to shrug the weight. I have been benching for many years it is something that I continue to study, read about and practice. You never stop to learn.
That being said I agree with Sapper599 you have a long way to go and PotKettleBlack that Sapper599 had a great honest post.Last edited by bigalaska57; 01-08-2009 at 04:55 PM. Reason: more to say

Come down off your ego man. Your strong (more so then me and a lot of other people here) but, you can't do 585. Having a spotter is fine but the spotter shoud not touch the bar. If you want to improve your bench and make it better, then come off your pedstool and start bench pressing weight you can actually lift.
