Elbow popping is preventing weight lifting and even push ups

Ever since I have done a bunch of curl exercises, push ups, and long heavy bag punching(mainly from this exercise since i like boxing) I have stopped working out for about 8 months and still my elbows haven't gotten better and still click. My right arm is worse though since it's my dominant arm and I use it more. They both don't hurt but i'd like to get back to my normal exercising life and be able to work out again like I used to. There was a time where I almost had boxer's elbow and I quickly stopped throwing punches and hitting the heavy bag before it turned to that and got bad (where part of the forearm muscle goes over the elbow or something like that). The clicking in my elbow is coming from above and behind the elbow where the tricep is. It doesn't hurt but it has gotten to where the ligament or whatever gets extremely tight like it's about to snap if I did any more lifting(it hasn't been like that for a very long time since I stopped lifting or doing any exercises). What can I do to get it to go back to normal? I think i'm doing something wrong that is preventing it from healing. It may sometimes have very faint aching after putting weight onto it or resting my elbow on an chair arm. I was told to keep it cushioned with elbow pads and elevated with a sling. But even that doesn't seem to work. I've tried triceps stretches and that sometimes work but then they tighten up if i move or strain my elbow. Do I just need to be patient and keep my right elbow elevated and then work on the other one to heal? I really don't think I need surgery on them both either because there is no pain and I even asked a friend who is an eye doctor and he did some arm checks (you know how doctors push a certain way and you have to push the other way). My elbows don't pop all the time but i'd like to know what I can do to(If I even can) get them back to normal. Please help!

Hi, I think I have the same thing you have, I went to the Dr. and he said it's called a subluxing ulnar nerve. Basically, the tendon in your arm runs through a little groove in your elbow. Normally, the groove has a tissure covering over it. Sometimes the tissue covering the groove can tear due to injury or for whatever reason. The tissue keeping the tendon in the groove will not heal as far as I know. If there is pain, or a tingling sensation in the pinky/ring finger go to the Dr. immedietly, as this is a sign of nerve damage. My Dr. told me that as long as there was no tingling and no pain, then I could either a) stop lifting all together or b) continue on with caution. I chose b. My elbows pop doing any kind of pressing movement, and I've kinda gotten used to it.

Anyway...look up "Subluxing Ulnar Nerve" or "Snapping Triceps Syndrome" and go to a Dr. if you can, better safe than sorry

Was there any pain at all? I really am discouraged now. I don't think i'm ever going to be able to lift again. Is there anyway to fix this??

I have had this problem in my left elbow. I am right handed. I believe the problem occurred because of improper form and using too heavy weights that overstressed the tendons and ligaments. It would click every time I flexed or extended my arm. I haven't exercised in over two months and the clicking has gone away. I will always have to be mindful how much weight I use from now on.

There was no pain for me. If you are experiencing pain/tingling go to the Dr. There is a surgery to correct a subluxing ulnar nerve if that is indeed the problem. However, my doctor told me that as long as there is no pain/tingling I am free to do as I please. Although it probably wouldn't hurt to avoid the exerscises that cause the popping.

Right after I read you said that if oyu have tingling in your pinky and ring finger I started having tingling in my left pinky and ring finger later on tonight. But it went away. I have no money to go to the doctor. So i'm pretty much screwed.

My only advice is to see a specialist. Look around for a really good one though, even if you have to travel a ways
