Can body adapt to amount of water you consume?

I read somewhere that it is recommended that people consume 1 liter of water for every 1000 calories they consume in a day, which is roughly 2 liters for most people. I drink way over that amount, like maybe 6-7 liters a day, its just a habit I picked up as a kid. My question is, has my body adapted to this? like if I don't drink the 6-7 liters, will my body be in shock and tell me that I'm dehydrated?

I drink a ton of water and sometimes my pee is still yellow.

If you want to decrease your water do it slowly, or you might get more severely dehydrated.

Drinking 6-7L (1.5-2 gallons) of water a day is great though, the website was probably providing a minimum, since most readers wouldn't have a chance of drinking 2 gallons of water a day. Sounds like what you read was directed to the average person who's not supplementing with protein/creatine/NO products and using an intense bodybuilding program.

I've been drinking one gallon a day at work everyday for the past 5 years.


And I STILL take a leak every 20 minutes or so. My body hasn't adapted at all.

yes the body (kidneys) do get use to it. But what your doing is a good thing. To this day I havent found anyone who drinks as much water as me (maybe jeff rodriguez? he puts down alot from what I heard). I drink on average at least 3gallons a day. then precontest that goes up even more to 4 and I have even gone 5 gallons before when dieting in the summer.
