well tonight I had a pretty good night.

    I did 495 on squats

    first set for 3
    then a double
then a tried a set without my headphones and got another double, I think I had 3 in me but I didn't want to go too crazy. I was pretty happy with that as it was somewhat uncomfortable for me as I was trying out new knee wraps (black mambas). I know everyone says they are more soft than most others, but honestly I'm used to just knee sleeves and man those things were TIGHT and they were really stiff for me. I think I'll do better as I get used to them.

Then I decided to try overhand hook grip since I have become increasingly concerned by all the stories i've been hearing about people tearing their biceps, the sets were

    225 X 5
    315 X 5
    365 X 3
    405 X 3
    455 X 1
    495 X 1
    545 X 1 (chalk)
    585 X 1 (chalk)

I was really happy with it for my first time I ever used it. It was awkward at first but really not that painful and it didn't hurt my pulling at all. I could have done more on 585 but I just wanted to test my grip with it. I don't think it will be a problem and I think as I get used to it I'll be easily able to pull with it in competition. I was really happy with it, especially doing it AFTER squatting heavy

Let's just hope you don't find any horror stories of dislocated thumbs from hook grip :P Solid, Solid lifting, do you plan on ever benching again or did this whole experience turn you off for good?

    nice squatting

alot of people that use hook grip use straps for all their training, because using hook grip for all your sets would tear your thumbs off, somethin to think about... Id just use switch grip for your lighter sets, and straps for you heavy sets with double overhand, then hook for 1 or 2 rep maxes etc.
