How can people be so caveman-ish as to 1) hide behind a bush and wait and 2)shoot an oblivious, defenseless, beautiful animal who was just minding his own business just trying to survive? Where's the challenge? What's to boast about? Its not a necessary part of survival to feed yourself and your family. Poor animals have it hard enough trying to survive and then have their life cut short by some lug looking for the perverse thrill of killing a handsome animal and then go hang the head in their home to reflect(if possible) feel a sense of proudness and accomplishment while guzzling a twelve-pack pack of budweiser. Am I missing something?

I can honestly say brah.....hunting is honest. You actually go through the process of killing, and breaking down the animal for food. You see where your meat is coming. If you eat meat, and get your meat from a slaughterhouse, you don't see how the animal is being killed and broken down before sent to the supermarket. Hunters don't waste. They hunt for food and believe or not they do serve a purpose of controlling animal population. Because the lacking of predators, many of these deer, can cause a surge of population growth which can be very unhealthy to the environment and will cause food shortages for them and lead to starvation and diseases. Many animals that are having a hard time finding natural source of food will eventually get into the city confines and search for food. Hunting has been around since time and the only thing that has changed is the weapons. There are different types from guns, rifles and bow hunting. Also hunting is no different to fishing. Basically you see and prepare the food you will be eating. As I say again, it is honest.

The reality is we are a species on this earth just like any other. And although we may not necessarily need to kill to eat, killing to eat is not a bad thing. In one respect I agree with OP, hunting in some respects is lowly, especially the hunting of specific animals like lions, wolves, eagles, elephants, the great apes...animals seen as trophies. I can see WHY people would want to but its still fukked up in my view.

C'mon brah....in the end hunters serve a purpose. Hunters who kill but don't eat the animal are not stewards of the land. They are wasteful and should not even be classified as hunters but as killers. Two different categories. Hunters that follow the regulations help keep the environment healthy and BTW....they help support the maintainance the land.

I see nothing wrong with hunting for an actual purpuse. Especially in order to get food or population control.
But if you're one of those rich pricks that hunts in fenced resorts, trolling around the feeding pens waiting for an animal to come before shooting it then you're a b1tch. That's not hunting, you might as well shoot birds in a cage.
