    Oatmeal question

Can any of you please tell me how much water and how much oat do I need too make oatmeal? I'm talking in grams and milliliters if it's possible. So far I've eaten the oats with cold milk and a banana but now I want to boil it in water first and see how it tastes. Would 100grams oats and 200 milliliters be OK? Do I need more, less? thanks

I cook mine in the microwave... I put oats in a microwave safe jug, cover with about 1cm of water, cook for 50 seconds on 50% power, stir, and repeat until it starts expanding. It's much quicker and less mess than boiling on the stove (unless you take your eyes off it and it explodes in the microwave).

I count this as one serving, if I want more, I double the amount of everything:

    40g raw oats
    1/2 cup milk
    1/2 cup hot water

Not sure how much water would you need if you excluded the milk, personally, I think it tastes like rubbish that way.

It doesn't say anything on the god damn container. I buy plain oats, the only thing it says are the calories, proteins, fats, etc. To the rest of you, thanks for your answers.

You but oats and it doesn't say how to make them? I go through a tub a week and I've never seen one without directions.

    Unless you buy it wholesale.

Trust me all it says on the package are what I mentioned. Like I said I used to eat them with cold milk, I didn't needed any instructions on how much water and such I need. Well I'll give it a try and see how it tastes.

Oh. My bad. Water is different for some people. some people like it all soupy and porridgy. I like just enough water to get the oats wet. Then I microwave so I have one solid oat block.

I like mine soupy and drink it out of a styrofoam cup at work. I just use the hot water section on our coffee maker, let it sit and get a little solid, then dump some cool water to cool it off some. Stir it up and drink away.

I'm a big texture eater though, and would take me 45 minutes to eat a cup of solid oat clump

I just buy the quaker instant oats. Quick, easy, and I go with the no sugar added apple cinnamon, so it's tasty. And I had sloppy oats. Mine has the consistency of a moist sponge.

It's one part oats to 2 parts liquid and heated until you like the consistency.

If you didn't like dry oats with milk and a banana, you probably weren't making it correctly.

    1. Blend 1 cup of oats into a fine powder
    2. Add 1 scoop whey powder
    3. Add 2 cups of milk, blend.
    4. Add 1 banana, blend.
    5. Add 1 ounce of honey, blend.
    6. Chug.
