CrossFit-Anyone heard of or trained on this program?
The other day, I worked out with my buddy who currently attends the US Naval Academy. Ultimately, he wants to become a Seal and we did a 2-hour weights workout based off of a program that he uses to train called CrossFit. The workout was intense, using mostly supersets and requiring constant motion throughout, but I found it enjoyable!
Has anyone heard of this program or used it before to meet their goals? What do you think about it being used in relation to bodybuilding?

Well it has been around for some years now, just go to the site.
In relation to bodybuilding, it's not the same. Posing on a stage is one thing, and doing crossfit is another. Both are awesome, don't get me wrong. But it's apple's an oranges. Check it out.

Thanks...I suppose it is more of an endurance type of training which makes sense for a Seal...it'd be cool to try and incorporate some of the elements of it into a workout though

It's not necessarily endurance. In their FAQ, they break it down by focusing on ALL elements of fitness. "Our specialty is not specializing"
They have strength days, endurance days, cardio days, etc.

I personally did crossfit for a year and let me tell you...it can smoke you faster than anything. Some of the workouts are absolutly diabolical, have you screamin for mama and looking for something to puke in. (muscles and lungs both screamin)
My downfall is that I did not have a facility set up to do most of these workouts and always had to sub some other excercise. That got frustrating. Then my next downfall is that I barely took a day off and ended up overtraining. Literally went from doing 20-25 pullups to barely getting 12. I kept banging my head against the wall and pushing myself making it only worse. (my nutrition at the time sucked too)
So I ended up taking a good amount of time off and now I just do lifts that my local gym allows and is set up for. It's a shame really,, I really liked it and dreamed of flipping tractor tires and rope climbs, kettle bells and letting heavy weights fall from any height. Oh well, maybe one day I will be worthy of calling myself a Crossfitter again. Heck one day you could see me at the XFit Games lookout!

Pick yourself back up brother, and get some more KOOLAID! You overtrained... but look at the positives. Now you know exactly how your body responds to certain stimulus. As far as I'm concerned, I'd be more worried about NOT knowing if I'm overtraining. Although a miserable experience, being overtrained, it's something IMO you ideally want to have under your belt. It will go a long way since after that point you can tell the signs and whatnot.
Your a Crossfitter, now get your ass back under that bar! I'll hear none of this lazy joe-sho attitude! Go make Greg Glassman proud! (and find an affiliate so you can have some extra fun with new movements)
