My Journey from OBSCURITY to ELITE and Beyond with USP LABS

Mods feel free to move if this is in the wrong forum. Just note that I am not a company online rep but a sponsored athlete. My agreements with my sponsor do not require promotional activity, and it is of my own volition that I am sharing this story with BB.com members. For this reason I didn't feel it was proper for me to put this in the company promo section. If you feel otherwise please do what you deem necessary, however as with my video log my intentions are to help and share with this online community what has worked for me.

    My journey from
    OBSCURITY to ELITE
    and BEYOND
    with USP LABS

    OBSCURITY

Prior to my sponsorship with USP Labs I was a relatively unknown powerlifter. I was a respectable lifter on the local level with my best total of 1745 @ 242, but was not competitive on a national level at all. The only thing I had to differentiate me was my incredibly detailed online video log. It was with the detail and help and support that I provided others in my log that I landed the USP labs sponsorship. It certainly wasn't any state level records that I held at the time. Because at the time other than my training log I was in relative OBSCURITY on a national stage.

    ELITE

My sponsorship with USP Labs was no mistake as I had been using their products for several years and I knew there products delivered like none other. They were at the top of my list when it came to seeking sponsorship for this reason.

What changed at this point was the fact that instead of taking some of their products here and there, I was able to take their full-recommended stacks on a consistent basis. This combined with my aggressive training in an amazing manner. Within the first year of sponsorship my total SHOT UP OVER 400lbs!!! I went from a 1745 total to a 2150 total at the same weight class. This was not only was huge increase for me, but also on a national level. This was done in the APA federation as a Drug Free lifter and was a 130lbs over the current World Record. In fact this total would set the world record in most Drug Free federations or divisions.

In addition to the 2150 @ 242 total in the drug free class that year my best lifts for the year included an 850 squat, 650 bench, and 695 deadlift. A couple narrowly missed lifts include a 900 squat and a 730 deadlift. I also posted a 2075 @ 220 near the end of my first year with USP labs which ranked me 17th in the world that year when looking at all weight classes and all federations.

I had not only shot quickly to an Elite level with my consistent training and USP Labs support, I had quickly become competitive on a world level.

    BEYOND

My goals now have shifted slightly with starting a new family, and although still primarily focused on strength, health and athleticism has become a bigger concern. At the 242lb class I was a bit on the heavy size and my waist was around 42" at it's widest which is not desirable or healthy. I had to make large bodyweight cuts to even make the 242lb class.

With these goals in mind and USP Labs release of Recreate making a great fat loss stack with Anabolic Pump, I decided to start stripping some fat off. So far I have taken off 30bls of fat and 6" off my waist! My abdomen at its widest point is now 35" and I am at a point I can compete in the 198lb class.

People in my training logs often ask about strength loss with such a large cut in bodyweight. I have indeed lost some leverages from the loss in weight but they payoff in athleticm, endurance, health, and dropping two competitive weight classes have certainly made it worthwhile. Even with the loss in leverages I have maintained a phenomenal level of strength while cutting and would refer to my videos of a 660x12 deadlift and my Ab Wheel from Standing Position (Wheel O' Death) x20 to support that argument. This is something you don't normally see, let alone see while on a calorie deficit producing a 15% loss in bodyweight.

My focus is still on strength and this next year I have some aggressive goals. I will be lifting in the 198 lb class, and continue to do so as a drug free lifter. In this class I am currently only lbs away from a 4x bodyweight deadlift, which only a handful of people have accomplished. If I lift the way my training is currently going I will make the All-Time list for all three lifts as well the total. The All-Time list is a combination of all federation's records regardless of rules or drug testing requirements.

If I can pull this off it will be a great achievement not only for myself but also for the effaicacy of USP Labs products. It's been a great ride and I can't wait to see where it goes next.

yes I get free Prime. I am a sponsored Athlete.

Cliff notes = I Compete as a drug free athlete and I am not 'enhanced as you suggest' but appreciate you jumping right to that conclusion without anything to base such a statement on. ROFL.

I don't hide the fact I used PH's back before 2005 but that was some time ago and I saw no lasting results from that.

have you done a standing ab roll out with a simple unassisting wheel??? Most people cant do a single one or even roll out into that position let alone 20 without cheating from a standing position.

I'm just as proud of that as the 660x12 deadlift.

I guess. "Few" would probably have been a better and more accurate choice, but given your choice of adjectives (can't believe you forgot spectacular) in your initial post, I understand fully why you chose "several"...

Yes I compete. My competition results are refered to and linked in the original post.

I am also the state chairman for one of the powerlifting federations and will be hosting two meets myself this year.

BTW....nice freakin work on the standing ab wheel. It takes a lot of ab strength to do those slow and to also not deload your bodyweight on the floor before comeing back up. Some people like to bounce off the floor or rest on the floor. Nice work man!

but if we are going to nit pick the definition of several is
    several
Consisting of a number more than two but not very many
anyway my records of my supplement use only go back to 2005. So I know its been 4 years...at a minimum. But reffering the above definition several appears to be the correct adjective for 4.

Sure. This is an amusing sidetrack...I will note you're counting 2009 as a full year, despite being not 4 full days into it. Even 4 full days is approximately only 1% of the year. Your phraseology is further either assuming or implying that USP started in January 01 of 2005 as well.

Perhaps it might be more accurate to round to 3 years, which is really stretching the point of several, as is 4, but 3 is more of a stretch...so, while you may not technically be wrong, your math and logic is fuzzy at best.

    Cheer-io!

    (p.s. spectacular, spectacular)

Balls...I almost forgot. Exactly what date did you become sponsored by USP Labs?

Yes a bit of an amusing side track so i will try not to repsond to this side topic again.

    2005-1
    2006-2
    2007-3
    2008-4

not counting 09 so I fail to misunderstand fuzzy logic. Early 05 (as stated earlier) to what is now early 09. so yes maybe a month or two shy of 4 years since my records start in March of 05 (when i started tracking all supp use on excell sheet) so I don't know the exact start date (no records of any sup use kept) so at a minimum its 3 years 9 months.

Not sure of exact date of sponsorship but around 1-1.5 years back. roughly. I could look at my records and see when I switched to primarly USP labs for a pretty close to exact date.

Fine, 4 years (documents don't really support that, but ok).

About half of that 4 has been with you being sponsored by them, so you could not realistically have been using the products several years prior to the sponsorship, unless they were operating under another name.

You can stop responding if you like, but testimonials, particularly from paid/sponsored athletes, are much easier to believe if they do not involve the dubious and questionable. It may seem rather minor and trivial, but by not including accurate information, it makes the standard of comparison impossible to determine and the relative "amazing" quality of your gains unable to be assessed.

I understand you feel the products have helped you gain tremendously, but you're also comparing them favorably vs. indeterminate PHs, which is going to strike nearly everyone who reads that on these boards as an unlikely-at-best proposition, unless the USP products themselves are different PHs...

Looking forward to hearing how you do...knocking down 50+ lbs in that time should make for an interesting challenge, particularly if you intend on competing in a strength competition...

Out of curiosity, I notice some of your gym lifts are higher than the competition lifts...do you feel that this is due to a stricter form required in the competitions or an "off" day on your part or nerves or something else?

8 additional weeks can do wonders for your training cycle.
Where is this comp's location/sanctioning body?

On the deadlift I've made a ton of gains since my last comp which was in July.

The squat, I was at the finish of a 900lb squat in comp when i lost my balance as i finished locking my hips and knees. I had the hard part done. That would have matched my gym best. I don't expect to see a 900lb squat in some time...that was really hurt with the weight loss and loosing leverages the fat added. But it has been made up for in the gains on the deadlift.

But yes a combination of everything above...there are also only so many competitions that i do (1-2) versus many training days.

    AAPF in Portland OR.

Hope to have a good training cycle even with the lack of sleep with the 4 week old and lots of hours with the big job i've taken on with the new career...speaking of wich i've got to get off the net and get to work on my weekly activity report to the owner and investment bank firm backing the expansion. especially since little (not so little in fact) just fell asleep in my lap and I can focus for a bit.
