~~A Better Me At 43 ~~
Since i have had the other journal since 2007 i thought it might be time to start a new one.
As i looked back through my old journal the main thing i noticed was i had no focus and i took a lot of time off. Most of that had to do with putting everyone needs ahead of mine. The promise that i'm making to myself this year is to put me first. Which should be a lot easier now that Brittany is away at college.
I really want to make this year my best year ever. I want to do more...
Run more race..get out of my comfort zone. I have let the fear of looking stupid and failing keep me from so many things.
I'm still getting my workout and meal plan worked out but i wanted to go ahead and get this journal started to get me motivated...you all know that the diet part is always the hardest part for me. I never eat enough calories.
When i do the calculators it say i should have 1500-1600 calories..but when i do my meals i always end up around 1300. I have to plan better...
Be back later

Goals For The New Year
Well today is Day 1 for me. Now that the holidays and my birthday is over i can finally get back to the way i normally eat with no interruptions.
Once i get going i do good but once i stumble that's it. I tend to have a hard time getting back on my plan once i slip up.
So my goals for this year are
1- Journal everyday..food and workouts
2-Run in 6 races this year.
3-Try and keep my weight under 125
4-Stick with one lifting plan at a time
5-Get out more..i'm such a hermit
6-Love me for me..not who i think i should be
7-Get a new hobby...something not fitness related
8- Try and step out of my comfort zone
9- Keep calories between 1500-1800
I guess that's about it. I think the hardest thing will be the calories. I have such a hard time with eating more means losing. I will work on this..

Yay! A new journal
What sort of distances are you planning on running this year? I am planning on a May and September half marathon and perhaps a 25km off-road race as well.

The races i usually do are
The Hunger Run which is the 31st of this month..it's a 5k
Charlotte Racefest it is April..i usually do the 10k but i might do the half marathon. That's would be my big race for the year.
The two races i didn't do last year were my summer races. I am doing those this year. They are in July both are 5k.
The i have the Pumpkin Run in October and my Turkey Trot in November.
I'm going to look around and see if there are anymore i could add.
These are the races i always run. I call them my comfortable runs because i know the people and the courses. So i would like to find some new challenging courses.
That will be a goal for this year.

All of your running goals sound great!!! I think is great too that you will be trying some new and more challenging courses to run as a goal for 2009!!!!!!!!
And when you mentioned to me in my journal that you think your life is boring ... no way!!!! You have tons of things going one that I love reading about - for starters, you love to read and I am always interested in hearing about new novels and authors - your daughter and how she is doing - what you and hubby are up to on the weekends - fun with the Wii - weather in SC which I am jealous of - how you are feeling from day to day ... and so much more!!
I ALWAYS enjoy coming in here to see you!!!

Hey Vanessa. I like your running goals.
It sounds like you want to challenge yourself yet still have fun, which is the perfect combination.

Sounds like some great racing goals there... Definitely pick some new, challenging runs if you can. The feeling when you finish is indescribeable!

I do like thw Wii Fit but a few things about it do bother me..
1- The "trainers voices can be a little much after awhile
2- It kind of talks down to you. Like if you miss a day or two..it makes a smartazz comment..like didn't have time to workout yesterday...daily training is the key..blah..blah..i'm like hey..i worked out..just not with you..
3- You can't flow from one movement to the next..you do the movement like a yoga pose..the trainer makes her comment...you get your score..it shows the amount of time credit you get..then ask you if you want to try the move again..then goes back to the screen where you pick the next move. There is no way you can over ride all of this..i just keep pushing the A button and it passes by..still they could have done that part a little better.

I'm still looking around for some new races to run this year. I only ran 956 mile last year. The year before i did almost 1700. That's a big drop.

I'm still toying with the half marathon idea. I'll have to see if i want to commit to that much training. I wonder if i would have to take my lifting down..

When I used to run, I actually sometimes liked running in the rain ... the only part that sucked was when you stopped and the chills set in! I think your coffee instead of the Wii was a smart idea

Hello Woman!!! I am so glad you have started a new journal. Good luck with your new goals...I think putting yourself first is a wonderful thing to do. I also think having goals that are not weight/body related (such as a run) is a great way to view this in a positive way. Instead of focusing on the weight etc, you can focus on the running! Anyway, I'll be around again, so I will pop in regularly!

Boy i am late posting today. I was up late watching Nip/Tuck. You think maybe i would have slept in but no i was wide awake at 4:30. So i get up to go for my run. I check the weather channel it was 66*. I was like...great..so i step outside and the wind almost knocks me over. So i go for my run..the wind is blowing thankfully at my back most of the time but it was hard. I only get 4 miles when i have just had it. I come in and check the radar..the wind was gusting 30-40mph. No wonder i was so tired.
Here is today's workout
Cardio/Running/Wind Surfing
Distance-4.01 miles
Time-44:04
Pace-10:59
Calories Burned-400
Training
db squats
SLDL
calf raises
shoulder press
delt raises
Wii Fit
30 minutes
Meals
M1
oats,whey,cinnamon
M2
oats,whey cinnamon
M3
brown rice,chicken,peppers,olive oil,vinegar,herbs.romaine
M4
cottage cheese,apple
M5
grilled chicken,broccoli,romaine,olive oil,vinegar,herbs,peppers
Did any of you watch The Biggest Loser late night. I was good. I didn't watch last season.I didn't really feel it. This season seems better. I'll DVR the rest of the season since Fringe will be coming back on and besides i hate all the commercials and sometimes the crying can be a bit much..i like the first couple of seasons where it was just the diets and the workouts..not all the personal stuff. I know i sound cold. I just think they are really stretching it out to try and fill the two hours when it should only be a one hour show.
I DRV Diet Tribe that was on Lifetime. I have not watched that yet but i think it's a Biggest Loser type show also.
Well that's all from here...
