    Oatmeal vs. Cold Cereal

I used to be big on oatmeal (ate it everyday - mixed with egg whites - for months), but I eventually got tired of it and reverted back to regular cereal and (skim) milk. I do see from a number of other threads that oats seem to be the clear winner with most members here, but I'm wondering if regular cereal (healthy kinds, that is) are really that much more inferior to oatmeal. I find I always have great energy for my morning workouts after a cup of some kind of low sugar, high fibre cereal (topped with All Bran for extra fibre, too), and that I have way more variety in terms of taste and texture with regular cereal as opposed to just oatmeal.

    Anyone else?

Eat what you want to -- there's no big difference....right now I'm on a cold cereal kick but i'm sure in a few weeks/months I'll want oatmeal again....or waffles...who knows? Just eat what you want.

I don't care about him in particular but saying stuff like that implies that people who choose to eat healthy or vegetarian or vegan have an ED. Maybe the kid is taking it too far and is misinformed, but as long as you get enough calories, I say let people eat what they want.

the thing that makes most cereals inferior to oats is that the cereals usually are a fast digesting carb, whereas the oats are a slower digesting complex carb. Also look at the sugar content between the two.

Extremely high in sugar? Not to mention it's the MOST overpriced item in the whole supermarket?

If i have time Ill eat Oatmeal, rarely do I not have 5 mins to make some oats but if im in a big rush Ill have whatever my bf buys. Hes the cold cereal guy. Hes not 100% healthy. He will buy Raisin Nut Bran, or Cheerios or something. I really prefer a hot bowl of oats, keeps me fuller a lot longer. When I eat cold cereal im hungry again in like an hour.

sometimes I get tired of oatmeal and eat cold cereal every now and again. I like either uncle sam or ezekial(sp?), hell maybe even good ol grape nuts
I do not discriminate against different aminos. I love all aminos equally.

If my breakfast is my PreWO, like today because it's the weekend, I won't eat oats. It just weighs me down. Today I hade two potatoes and a tuna burger with cheese.

edit: I also end up having two breakfast's on these days. My postWO will be oats, lol.

Oatmeal is king. But something like Kashi GoLean isn't so bad.

By the way Pumped4Life, think you could send me a recipe for how you did your oats and eggs?

Sure (not much of a "recipe", though lol). Just basically replaced half the amount of water normally used with egg whites (and occasionally added a few tbsp of 2% milk for variety). Key difference for me, though, is that I just stuck with instant oatmeal (cuz I'm always running late and need everything as fast as possible), but it would work the same for regular oats.

But when you're boiling the water and egg whites together, you'll have to constantly be stirring it (otherwise the egg whites will just burn and stick to the bottom). Don't wait for it to be fully boiling before you add it, though; just keep stirring til it's steaming and kinda frothy/foggy in appearance, and it's ready!

I eat healthy cold cereal for bfast after a long time eating oats. oats fill me up for a long time and I feel a little sluggish for a while. I have more energy with cold cereal.

it also depends on the amount of carbs you need either 70g carbs from cereal is going to be less filling than 70g carbs from oats.
If God did not want us to eat animals, he would not have made them out of meat.
