I love this show, the chicks are hawt, the story line is crazy good, and the acting is amazing.
It almost hurts to write this, but skip weight training and catch the show.

I was never a sci-fi guy. I didn't see the first Star Wars until 5yrs after it came out. Of course, I did watch a lot of Star Trek, but that was in the 70's. In fact, after a little Columbian Gold....episodes like "The Trouble With Tribbles" rivaled the best SNL skits of the day .

You really should rent the mini series that kicked off the series. At times it doesn't feel like you're watching scifi, but rather just a good drama.
Wanting to look like Apollo was one of the things that got me to join a gym. LOL!

I remember that. The Ceylons scared the crap out of me, with those KITT eyes, and that one episode they visited Earth and had bikes that took off into like planes. That was pretty cool to me at the time.

That was my main problem with that. Cylon cylon cylon. It would be like if every Star Trek was about fighting the Klingons, or every next gen was about running from the borg. It gets old.

I've got some friends that are my age that absolutely refuse to watch it because they were such huge BSG fans back in the day. They think the changes in the new series are sacrilege (Starbuck being a woman, etc.).
I never watched the old series so I didn't have any baggage going in.
Even better, SciFi has an HD channel now.

Haven't watched the new show; all I remember from the old one is the Cylons looking like pinball machines when they spoke...
Heck, I wish I could find a website that shows ANY of the old shows I loved; CBS.com and a few others just can't be viewed in Japan. That sucks!

My situation is mostly the reverse: I WAS a sci-fi guy big-time in the '70s as a teen. I read Tolkien, Herbert, Clarke, Asimov, et al in high school when other kids were....well....not reading. I loved Star Trek reruns and watched all the sci-fi flicks, including bad ones like Soylent Green, Logan's Run, Futureworld, and the TV show The Starlost and good underrated ones like THX 1138 and the Bakshi animated LOTR. I saw Star Wars 17 times when it came out in '77 (there was a promotion from a local AM radio station that every 7th person in the movie lineup got in free so I'd just count backwards); it set my imagination aflame and at 14 could recite the entire script to my sister from memory! My favourite sci-fi is probably 2001: A Space Odyssey.
But in the '80s a lot of bad sci-fi was produced - including the original Battlestar Galactica - and my interest fell off. Now that I'm done uni I am re-reading a good deal of sci-fi (anybody have a copy of The Hero From Otherwhere?), even now Clarke's A Fall of Moondust. But I just can't get excited about the sci-fi I see on TV today...

Preaching to the choir here buddy!
They won't listen to me when I try to get them to watch it. I've even tried lending them my DVDs. Their loss!

You mean like, from the BC area?
(In best Nicholson voice): Son, we live in a world that has bountiful gardens and those gardens need guys like me to tend to them. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Fiend73? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for those in the lower 48 and curse the DEA; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that ganja's seeming disappearance, while tragic, is probably for the best, and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives by smoking others' shares. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want me in those gardens, you need me in those gardens!. We use words like doobs, hooters, and sticks. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the liberal Canadian government and then questions the manner in which I smoke my hemp. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post in a garden of your choice. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think others have smoked or not smoked.

Great scene! I LOVED that scene in the movie. Prob the one of the best ever. And YOU DBX should be in Hollywood writing this stuff.
As far as getting stuff from Canada and along the lines of Sci-fi, aren't Grace Park and Amanda Tapping both from Canada?

Good show. Completely different from the original series, which was good, but kind of campy.
The new show reminds me of an HBO series.
IMO BSG and "Mad Men" are probably the two best quality shows on right now.
