i agree with both you and Assasin.
I think for guys who have competed, you should really only use your competition numbers as they're mostly assured of being quality numbers. (as in properly performed and they are after all what the sport is about)
for newbies they should be highly encouraged to compete, but gym lifts with video would be acceptable because we all know of times where we'd love to compete..but the nearest meet is a state away, or in 12 weeks time or something.
for gym lifters who have no plans to compete...i guess videos are ok...but still I would like to see them compete if they want to have a total. I don't think gym lifting w/o competing should be encouraged as "powerlifting"

I would hope that a thread like this and posting in it would encourgage people to compete and want to compete. Making this almost a stepping ground in getting experience from even figuring out what a total is and what are rankings. Some newbies don't think of the big picture that in powerlifting it is the total that counts.
Seems to me kind of split between

I came up with 434.42 for the wilks. Using: http://tsampa.org/training/scripts/relative_strength/

Kwl idea, but will probably be hard to maintain + im sure msny arguments will ensue. Might as well try it out though.
Are you going to change the list everytime someone gets a pr though?"Think before you type you stupid mother ****er"

I'd like to hear more opinions on what qualifies an entry onto the list.
I think I'm still leaning more towards keeping it open for now but definitely see the side of wanting to keep it to meet results and gym lifts with video.
If it is to be restricted I also like the idea of allowing those that have a consistent running journal here in the pl subforum and lifters with solid standing here in the pl forum. That should help promote quality participation.
Edit: lol, I feel like I've posted more in this thread then I've ever posted anywhere else on this forum.Last edited by Jason2459; 12-31-2008 at 02:24 PM.

My humble opinion is that a video or a meet result should be required, or if they have a long running journel.
Not too tight restrictions imo, simply to stop e-stating. People can add alot to their lifts my using straps, hitching, bouncing, squating high etc though, so idk if how usefull journels are."Think before you type you stupid mother ****er"

Seems like meet results/and gym vids are more popular and a way to go.
One person had an idea of requiring top 5 to have vid or meet results. How about those in the top 5 in the wilks rankings need to provide meet results or vids of gym lifts.
All others can either be open or if still want to restrcit then to also allow those that have a solid standing or long running journal here? Does that make any sense? or am I starting to make this to complicatedLast edited by Jason2459; 12-31-2008 at 02:38 PM.
