My home-made version of plate mates
I have 25-85 pound dumbbells in 10 pound increments. Instead of buying plate mates or even number dumbbells, I just decided to tape a 2.5 pound plate on each side of the dumbbell today. It was very secure...at no point was I worried about my safety or the plates falling off.
Hope this helps someone...b/c this is the cheapest way I can think of adding additional weight to dbs.

The price of duct tape will probably negate any savings.

I'm livin' large - I paid the $76 retail and bought the plate mates. No tape goo on my dumbbells.

he said he's got 25-85 in 10# increments and tapes a 2.5 to each side to get the ones in between.

No need for the duct tape, brah.
I've got this sticky adhesive called semen. Work wonders, and it will hold just about anything.
