Nothing but I did get a new hardcore backpack to take my stuff to work in and I think that counts as exercise 'cause I have to haul a lot of gear around LOL
My favorite gift though was some expensive perfume from my son. I raised that boy right!

An exercise bike to get some exercise while out with my hand injury as the elliptical requires two hands for me and the jarring of the treadmill hurts the hand. Some new workout clothes- shirts extra large this year, large last year. Gift certificates to Gym Outfitters. Best gift was time with my kids and wife. Fuel for recovery!!

Bought myself the 'Pefect Pushup' things at Wal-mart, my wife wrapped them with my daughter so she could give them to me.

Yep! I have read a lot of good things about them, particularly related to shoulder injuries. I have had problems with my internal rotator since last April, and was not able to bench or do pushups at all until September when I got the cortisone shot. It is finally coming back, but I thought these might help.
I immediately felt a difference with these due to the rotation... I feel no pain in my rotator AT ALL with these. It is actually a little harder than a standard pushup, I guess because you have to stabilize the rotation, and also you can go a little deeper. I can do a few less with these in my initial trial than I do with regular pushups. Maybe I was just getting used to them though.
My wrists are not quite flexible enough, so they feel a bit strained after regular pushups... but not with these since your wrists are not bent 90 degrees.
I'll give them a thumbs up! Not a bad little device for $20, particularly if you are trying to work around a shoulder injury.

I got some wrist straps.
The gloves that have straps aren't working that well now I can't take Animal Flex anymore - gotta take care of my little wristies - smallest measurement on my body (well, not technically, but you get it).I'm Buddha-sized and full of wisdom... and fat.

Wow, I got mine at Wal-mart for $20! And that is the real brand ones...
Looks they have gone up a little though, now $30.

This got me to thinking about this one campground my family visited when I was growing up, the playground had multi-leveled chinup bars and other bars placed at ankle, shin and knee height my father said were for pushups. I'd never seen anything like it before. Now, I've only seen the ad for the "perfect pushup" things once, maybe twice, but the principle is simple enough. If you have access to hex dumbells >30# you might try putting two of them on the floor, at an angle, think EZ curl bar. Granted they won't rotate unless you use round dumbells, but then you might find things get entertaining fast; flashback to bodyhard doing pushups on a swiss ball. . . not as easy as it looks at first glance. Props to bodyhard for trying them. The perfect pushups won't roll out from under you. Hmm . . . pushups combined with an ab-roller. Ouch.
Me? I got a pair of 30# hex dumbells which I just tried doing the above pushups with.Last edited by Preacher13; 01-01-2009 at 06:10 AM.
