ok well as of right now, i am in football offseason and we work out and run everyday mon-fri. i don't know if i'm right, but i feel as if our training schedule sucks. one day we do all upper body for about 30-35 minutes, then the next day we do all lower body for the same amount of time, and after our workouts we usually go outside and run sprints on the track. i'm not too confident in the workouts the coaches put together. i have a gym membership and was wondering if i could maybe do some kinda split like in the evening after school or something in addition to the football workout, or would that be overtraining? because i'm afraid if all i do is the workout at school, then i'm not gonna reach my full potential as i'm gonna be on varsity next year.
the workouts usually consist of something like this: (note: we usually don't finish all 4 sets due to we only have 5-7 minutes for each quarter)
upper body day:
Quarter 1
Bench 4x8
spot
lat pull 4x10
Quarter 2
shrugs 4x8
dips 4x10
dumbbell bent over row 4x5 each arm
any help would be highly appreciated. i just need something extra i can do without overtraining. and i'm trying to gain alot of size.
