Congrats on 17 days. That is awesome!
Benefits?
I have never, not once, woken up in the morning and thought to myself, "Gee, wish I would've gotten blacked out drunk last night."
When I first got sober, I loved waking up in the morning and knowing what happened the night before. I didn't have to worry about what I might have said or did. It gave me some peace and relief, almost immediately. I still love waking up, it's my favorite part of the day, but during the first several months of sobriety it was just surreal and special.

Congrats on 17 days.
Benefits? I'm closer to God. My memory got better after 40, I remember weekends, holidays, special events, Wednesdays, etc. I've gotten to enjoy my kids childhoods (and remember them). I'm a youth leader. My wife respects me. I'm involved in opportunities I could not have participated in while using.
Pretty much everything is better.Jesus is my lifting partner.

PTSD is a mother****er no matter how you look at. As bad as it is even with the meds and therapy it will for most of us be a daily battle. For me there is only a small part left to feel good and booze oblitherats that.
I heard the Korn song "Dead Bodies Everywhere" the other day and went to pieces. It's not the dead that upsets me it's the fact that there are so many people in this world that have absolutely no regard for another human life.Last edited by JRT6; 11-03-2011 at 07:50 AM.
