Sober for 5 months now. I'm still on the meds thou. Alchocol ruined whole last decade of my life. Few great girlfriends, few good jobs, everything is destroyed and gone. But I'm not surrender, this decade can be great if I stay sober, and I know I will!

Glad you are seeing the hope in it all Blacksmith!
Many of us give up when the reality of our lifestyle and actions starts to hit home. It's not easy or everyone would stay sober.

People often ask if I regret my past mistakes.
I say what I did then, makes me who I am today and for that I am grateful.

I tell people I'm a recovering a-hole.
On another note my wife has been in a bad mood because of work the last few days and I feel the old intense anger and fear of rejection thing coming on. It's hard to respond in an appropriate manner when I don't know what I've been doing to precipitate anything. There are times when I have legit grievances but a lot of the time the underlying cause is me (usually me being mentally checked out for awhile or being on some anger loop).

Three days ago I was at my parents house, it was some kind of big party event, I even served alcohol to other people and I didnt drink one drop of it. And I even didn't want to, and that is a huge progress for me.
