There's so many foods that this has potential for and it does as I use it on pretty much everything...and rice is definitely one of them. Also you could try garlic powder(by powder I use the granulated kind tastes better) too.

Edit: You can find this at most big chain stores like Wal-Mart now...you may pay a little bit more compared to an asian grocery store, if you have on around you i'd buy it there as its usually a good $1 or so cheaper for the big (24 oz?) bottle.

All of the suggestions so far are good. A little trick I've learned is to add this stuff before you cook it. That way it gets into the rice and really flavors it. Adding it after just doesn't taste the same.
I like to just add a ton of lemon pepper before I cook it. I think it tastes great. I've also heard of people using chicken broth (or anything similar) instead of water. That sounds good.

I completely was in the same boat as you recently. I have never really loved brown rice unless it had soy sauce on it. My grandmother got me this stuff for Christmas called herbamare. Its basically salt with some herbs and other things in it. If you can still use some sodium (which I assume you can if you were using soy sauce lol) then this stuff is great!!! I can't explain why it makes *everything* taste so much better butt it does. When I cooked brown rice yesterday I put a little of it in the water while it was cooking and the rice was great! I just use it in any place I would normally use salt. Its kind of pricey at like 5.50 for 7ish ounces but so worth it. When I use it I can use less salt but still have great flavor.
But I'm keeping an eye on this thread for more ideas~pyratekk~

buy chicken bouillions cubes and add a cube of it to give your brown rice(boil in water) a chicken soup brown rice the taste of real chicken soup.you can add strips of chicken to it.sodium is a bit on the high side but who cares when you sweat so much because of exercise.

I absolutely love rice pudding. I had never really thought of making my own.
Does anyone have any good recipes (other than just putting rice in yogurt or something)?
I'll look some up and post here if I find one.
EDIT:
* 2 c. cooked rice
* 1/2 c. sugar
* 2 eggs, slightly beaten
* 2 c. milk
* 1/2 tsp. vanilla
* 1/4 c. raisins
* 1/2 tsp. powdered cinnamon
Preparation:
Place rice in bowl, add all ingredients, stir to mix. Pour into greased baking dish or pan. Bake about 25 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
Sounds easy enough. Just replace the sugar for splenda if you really want to.
Yum.

I make brown rice pudding. It's very easy.
1 cup dry brown rice, 2 1/2 cups of water and a tsp salt; simmered 40 minutes = approx. 3 cups of cooked brown rice
mix 1 cup of eggbeaters (4 eggs) and 3 cups of skim milk in a mixing bowl
then slowly incorporate the rice 1/4 cup at a time to temper the eggs
pour back into sauce pan and add 4 tbsp of splenda and 4 tbsp vanilla extract
simmer while stirring 20 minutes
split into 4ths, pour into bowls and cool. Eat up!
I guess you could add whey, but you don't really need too.
Each serving has about 30 grams of protein and about 120 grams of carbs.
No fat. No sugar. Tastes almost as good as the store bought kind. Add a touch of nutmeg. Honey. Cinnamon is good in it too.Last edited by styles; 01-25-2009 at 09:20 PM.
