    DHEA effects... how long?

Hey all. Long time no see. Have had my head in the clouds. Not good.

Anyway, I was just curious to hear from some of you that have taken DHEA... how long did it take to notice any type of effect, whether positive or negative? Also, what dosage were you taking?

I started with 50mg and increased to 100mg per day and used it for about 6 months. I haven't taken it in the past 6 or so months as I have been unable to get any.

Benefit wise - I gained more muscle in the 6 months I was using it than in my previous 5 years of training. The fact that I stopped taking the Pill around the same time may have contributed to this though. I hoped it also may have helped with an increase in libido but this didn't end up being the case!

Disadvantages - I started to get a very small amount of acne (and I NEVER get pimples due to being on Roaccutane as a teen) and a little facial hair. Sounds scary, but it was really just a scattered few darker hairs on my chin - nothing a pair of tweezers can't fix.

    Both, I suppose.

It's been hard making gains in the gym the past six weeks or so. Have tried switching up my routine with no luck. I am also interested in seeing how it affects my mood/energy level/focus, and of course the libido. Lol. Would be nice if it *enhances* my fat loss efforts, although I do not believe in supplements for that purpose at this point in my game... I know the way to get that kind of progress is proper nutrition and a solid routine.

Thanks ladies... I have been taking 25mg/day for seven days now and really, I've noticed no difference in any area I am looking for it to affect. Should I bump it up to 50mg or just let it ride at this dose for longer?

The negative side effects you have mentioned I deal with anyway so it makes no difference to me, lol

I took 50mg a day for about 6 months and didn't notice anything I could attribute to the DHEA. I've been off of it for about 3 months and again, I didn't notice anything happening when I stopped taking it.

All the info out suggests that if you are taking it for either hormonal benefits or improved insulin sensitivity/ decreased fat mass.... then 50mg/ day (of DHEA, not 7-keto) is required...

But the problem might be for you is that these are all recommendations for 'elderly people' (well, menopause, as well as older diabetics).... So because you are younger/ have other hormones still working, and because you are probably a different body shape to those in the studies you will have to watch your response and modify accordingly...

    7 kheto

I took 7kheto and I felt warm when I began my workout and sweat very easily...for about two weeks. That is the ONLY difference I noticed. I was fairly disappointed.

    Angry Dhea

    HORRIBLE!!!

I know everyone reacts differently to different supplements and such, personally I hated DHEA (and so did my husband).

This stuff threw my hormones too far out of whack, I was angry all the time and much more aggressive than usual. I switched over to Estrodex as directed by my trainer. I'm just finishing my first bottle and everything seems ok. I just picked up a bottle of Jungle Warfare by **** and am about to order a bunch of their other products to stack with it so we'll see how it goes. I was told at the Vitamin Shoppe that the Hyperdrive is being recalled for an ingredient not legal in the US so I'm stocking up before it becomes unavailable, I've heard nothing but good stuff about it.

Stay away from DHEA! Just my personal feelings.

Hmmm, I agree with everyone; when I was in my twenties I didn't notice anything from DHEA supplementation. However, that's not the case now and I do...

Are you getting enough good fats in your diet?

This fall, I took 50 mg/day DHEA for 8 weeks. I didn't notice any effect for about 3 weeks, but during weeks 4-8, my energy level was a little bit better and my lifts went up by a little (couple of reps).

Only side effect was a couple of zits, which I get sometimes anyway. No effect on mood or monthly cycle, and didn't notice anything after stopping it.

Chef K-Lo would probably be safe increasing it to 50 or possibly 75 mg/day.

DHEA was pretty mild in my experience.

Anyway, I was just curious to hear from some of you that have taken DHEA... how long did it take to notice any type of effect, whether positive or negative? Also, what dosage were you taking?

Exclamation caution to wrenchgirl and request for more info

If you reacted badly to DHEA, my opinion is to stay away from Jungle Warfare and any other prohormones that are usually marketed to men.

DHEA is probably the mildest prohormone out there, since it's a substance that occurs naturally in the female body in fairly large quantities. It converts to both estrogen and testosterone. The ratios of conversion are unique to the individual, so the effects are not entirely predictable.

Supp's like Jungle Warfare are more strongly androgenic. If you noticed anger, mood swings etc with DHEA you should probably avoid Jungle Warfare IMHO.

Everyone reacts differently to supplements. Also, you should introduce things one at a time, so you know how you react to each thing.

    IMPORTANT:
How long have you been lifting? (I'm going to assume at least two years?)Diet? Goals? Are you planning to compete? More info of this nature would be very helpful.

What other supp's are you taking i.e. vitamins, creatine etc.?

If you are considering any type of hormonal supplement, you need to do a LOT of research. Search for Patrick Arnold's posts, which are helpful.

Also be careful of other **** supp's. Venom Hyperdrive came back spiked with something that shouldn't be in there i.e. a prescription weightloss drug. There's a great big long thread about Venom Hyperdrive here:

    http://forums.musculardevelopment.co...ad.php?t=50163

If you want to take the risk on yourself of taking the Venom Hyperdrive [not a good idea], you should at least do enough research to know what's in it.

Please be careful and do your research.

Haven't been eating for fat loss lately, but will be going back to a keto diet during the next week. Training has been a 3 day split in the 6-8 rep range. I'm thinking of trying a 5x5 routine next...

Yes; I also supp with Omegas
