btw
the back workout video on the versagrip site looks pretty cool. I may incorporate some of the lifts in it. the one with Mark Alvisi & Rich Gaspari

LOL
is that like curls that aren't very curly
Here is my experience with various excercises.
Well I used my shiney new pair of VG's yesterday morning and must say I was very pleased.
On my heaviest deadlifts (5 rep range anyway) with normal straps usually had me holding on with my fingertips as the straps extend etc. Not the versa grips, solid grip throught the whole set which allowed me to add a couple reps to my set.
Wide pullups are normally painful around my elbow joints, I am guessing due to my grip putting pressure on my forearm muscles. With the versa's that pressure is gone and I was able to crank out 1x12 and 2 x 10 wiht no pain in my joints at all.
over hand and underhand bent rows worked like a charm and I was able to focus more on the target muscles much better, I noticed already it is easier to "feel" the muscles when you dont have to split your concentration on your grip.
One suprise I found was that they helped my heavy straight bar curls.
I was about to take them off for the curls but decided it would be easier just to wrap em.
I didn't have to think about the bar rolling forward through the arc of the curl. Also it kept the line from my forearm to my hand in a straight line without havving to focus on that, so I was able to do heavier straight bar curls than I normally would do. It added 15 pounds to my Oly bar curls which I am sure my biceps will appreciate. (btw I did them on one of the open bench press stations) so I did a new PB on curls 95 pounds x 8 on my second set.
Needless to say I am very pleased with this purchase

Does anybody feel that using these will really compromise grip strength? My wife and I are both about to start deadlifting and I got mired the whole gloves/straps vs bare hand debate. If the material isn't that thick, the fingers still have to grab on as tightly as without them, right? My main concern is her tearing her hands up and not wanting to continue if it gets nasty, but adding grip/forearm strength is a definite plus as well.

Yes, using VG's and/or straps will compromise grip strength. That is, unless you do other exercises to compensate. And of course, the question; are you trying to build back and ham muscle, or are you trying to build your grip?
And another thing.....you can always perform all those lifts up until your grip prevents you from moving forward. Understood?"If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

I saw in another thread that freebird had recommended them highly, and just came across this one here. One thing I forgot to ask about was if you use them only with barbells, or will they work well with dumbbells too? Do you still use gloves when doing push type exercises (I'm assuming this is things like bench press...)? And it seems the overwhelming consensus is everyone buys the Pro and not the classic.

I've never seen one.
they sell themselves without coupons pretty well.
btw
I got my set of pro's because I lost one of my standards in a parking lot last summer.
Well it turns out someone brought it in to the gym recently and put it into the lost and found, no telling how long they had been carrying it around. I still had my first other one so now I had 2 sets of VG's. a standard and a pro, so I sold the standard to a lifting buddy for 25 bucks.
