I forget where I read it, but whatever it was it said something to the effect of: "power lifters grasp ice cubes in their hands before big lifts to wake up the central nervous system". I don't recall the entire article or anything. Does anybody know what this is about? Did a google search and came up empty.
Anyways, I was thinking about how to increase my effectiveness while working out in the morning. Usually my lifts aren't nearly as intense or heavy in the morning as they are on the days I do them in the afternoon or evening, even though I have a pre-workout meal as well as energy supplements.

Ice and the Central Nervous System
Just going through the motions is one of the most disadvantageous things you can do.

Have never heard of people doin that, and as for the morning lifts, are you getting enough sleep at night? If so and your mornings still are ****, i would just keep my workouts in the afternoon so you can keep your intensity up, everyone responds differently and your body may just need time to wake up and energize throughout the day
