It's not uncommon for boxers to eat upwards of 7,000 cals in a day. When you train for boxing as a professional boxer, you train for hours and hours on end every single day and it's non-stop activity. You're either working on the speed bag, punching bag, sparring or skipping, among other things. Your body needs a ton of fuel.
Just like Michael Phelps consumes 10,000 calories on heavy training days, because when he does swimming practice, he's active for the WHOLE day non-stop.
