I have owned a 2g Zen V for about two years and lost the software long ago. I just dumped a load of various albums on it using Windows Explorer and used shuffle play and toggled to the next song if I was not in the mood for the song.
A few months ago I tried downloading the software but never managed to get it to work differently than the way I have been using it; today, it bit the dust so I decided to get a new MP3 player this evening.
I bought a 2g Sandisc Fuze at Walmart for 68.00 and have spent the last three hours making a playlist in Windows Media Player. I just finished a sync with the Sandisc and it works great.
I opened the music library and previewed songs and then added them to a new playlist.
How did you setup your player?
Do you create playlists in Windows Media Player or on the MP3 player?
What playlists do you have?
Is there a better, faster, smarter way to create playlists?
Any other tips for an MP3 newbie?

That's not the complete truth. Licensing applies to ALL music players. The license for music is if you purchase it online from iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc. But if you rip your own or get your music from P2P, then there is no license. If you buy your music, look for DRM-free music.
I have an iPod shuffle for the gym. My full iPod was way too big and cumbersome for that environment. I like Uncleroman's method. Do you turn off the wireless for the phone when in the gym? I can't think of something more maddening than the phone vibrating in the middle of a set.

I used to have a Zen, but the thing was just goofy and awkward to use so I bought an Ipod. I gave the Zen to my wife and now she hates trying to use it and wants an Ipod.Obsession is a word used by the weak to describe the dedicated

I have the iPod Shuffle and it is worth every penny over and above it's competition if only because it is made aluminum and not plastic so it surives it's occasional toss acrossed the gym!!! One time I got so pissed cuz it stopped working that I took it off and used the headphone wires to swing it around and down onto the counter, I have no idea where it flew to but my wife got pissed and went to find it, it still works to this day, though slightly dented. Come to find out there was nothing wrong to make it stop working, I was clipping it to my waist and sweat was getting into the headphone jack shorting it out! D'oh!!

Nope, wasn't serious...but I bet there a few from the hills that don't know what an MP3 is
When IPOD's were introduced my daughters wanted one and they were outrageously expensive. I bought them various inexpensive MP3 players when they were younger and simply told them "name brands" were not always the best value. They hit up the EX last year for Xmas and they received Shuffles. This year I hear they are getting a newer model. BTW, they live with me fulltime.
I am trying to teach them that they do not have to compete with all of their friends....phones, mp3 players, clothes, shoes, vehicles etc.
I do provide for them quite well but I don't serve them all those things ^^^ on a silver platter. I had serious heartburn over buying my daughters 95.00 Nike Shox's in 4'th grade when at that time their feet were still growing. Now that they are in Jr High and start Sr High next year, I will gladly throw down some green for shoes that benefit their ankles and knees.
Oh, my Sansa came with 14 days of Rhapsody but I was only able to download a few songs. Any help on how to get the most from my remaining 13 days?12/23/08 - 279

They're still a little too overdesigned, though. MP3 players don't make people lazy like so many other inventions have, but they're more complicated than they have to be...and now there are phones that shoot video and MP3 players that have voice recording, and it seems that there are phones that play MP3s, shoot videos, answer e-mail, browse the web...
No wonder people are so depressed. They're given too many options and too many choices. Humans tend to get stuck in analysis paralysis in situations like that, and even subconsciously our spirits get dragged down if we have more than two or three choices to make.
How many people have you heard lament their choice of phone, TV, PC, laptop, or whatever else because they saw something "better" or "cheaper"?
Back in the days when your choices were "work" or "starve" the percentage of depression was a LOT lower. LOL"Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle." - Psalm 144:1
Also, taxation is theft.

Hey that's why the ipod and generally all Apple stuff is better and works better
they are not trying to be everything , they do what they are designed to do more efficiently, better os better interface translates into less frustrated user.
Sometimes they have less features than some competitive products but for a good reason.who says love has to be soft and gentle ?

LOL I might soon .. my only problem is A&TT , I don't use the cell phone enough to justify one , however santa might bring me an ipod touch .. time to put my 30gig video ipod to rest
That would be perfect because I can make calls with the touch without having a phone plan.who says love has to be soft and gentle ?

Doesn't work that way. The iPhone must be activated and if you cancel your voice/data plan you have to pay a cancelation fee. That and if you don't cancel it is over $80 a month for 450 minutes, data and zero text messages! I have a first generation iPhone and will be going back to a normal phone in 6 months when my contract is up. It was fun to play with at first but not all that usefull in the long run.
