What makes protein different?
We often read comments like "the body can only absorb XXgrams amount of protein at a time" Well what happens to the rest of it? No one ever says the body can only abosrb XXgrams of fat or carbs at a time. Then there's the warrior/IF diets. Here one is consuming a large portion of their calories within a very short period of time. But suddenly we're not concerned with how much the body can absorb of the macros in a given time. Then the qustions about "carbs before bed". The response is, it doesn't matter as long as it fits in with your macros. So what is it? Why is protein such a complex nutrient and how can we give conflicting advice?

Not sure how it's name in English... but it's when too much protein is eaten is a short time the amino group is removed from the amino acid, so eating more is not a benefit.
It's called deaminering in Norwegian.

It should be more properly stated: 'the body can only use a certain amount of protein for muscle building at one time'
Your body will always use the calories from protein, but your body can only make new muscle so fast, and above a certain point, it cannot make use of more protein...

You're listening to the wrong people. Just eat your protein.

Oh I do. I generally don't follow most of the "advice" that people give out. I've learned enough about my body over the years to know what does and doesn't work for me. I just find it interesting that so many people have conflicting ideas on the subject. I was curious what the basis is for them. Perhaps they know something I don't?

Overconsumption of fats is stored as fat. Overconsumption of carbs is stored as fat.
