Metformin .. use pros cons and advices..
Hello everybody... I've been researching the use of metformin for overall improvement on gains(while bulking) and also better results while cutting..
As u know it improves insulin sensitivity which imo is one of the main reasons why there are skinny/fat people and fit ones.. (besides genetics and thyroid function)
Improving my insulin sensitivity will greatly improve my gains, the quality ones, and preparing me for the cut coming in april.
Metformin..
pros: - improves insulin sensitivity
- safer than slin.. very little chance of getting hypo
- hardly and side effects in normal doses (up to 2-3gr/day)
- instant ketosis (better results with the anabolic diet)
- great for cheat meals
- cheap ( i can get stuff from pharmacies, prescriptions a too easy to be copied, plain A4 paper, with a stamp and sig.. any ink-jet would do )
cons:
- significantly decreases Free Testosterone levels (by 11%) and increases SHBG by 40% when used long term ( ) ( http://www.nature.com/oby/journal/v9...by200190a.html)
- gastrointestinal upset if ur prone to it.. ( can be prevented when taken after/during a meal)
Now, i'll need your advice on how to reverse the worst side effect.. the lowering of much needed testosterone..
To counteract that effect many propose the use of androgens..
for example, the best at binding to SHBG is Proviron..
Now, how much Proviron is needed daily to keep things at bay.. 25, 50mg?
Also, will Winstrol be good at this.. ? or maybe a combination of both.
( please note that i'd like to keep my HTPA function unchanged.. we're talking long term use here.. 3-4 months.. )
IMO Proviron would be best.. But i'd like to hear some of your opinions..
Thank you for your attention..

99% of the people i have talked to who have tried metformin did not notice any increase or better gains while using it. almost all of them experienced the runs though. they were all doing various diets and training programs, all with little success. i think metformin is a bit misleading and i personally wouldnt use it. save your money for other things but good luck. also, 50mg of proviron is a solid dose.

hmm.. i go with the idea that it is a DRUG that is used to improve insulin sensitivity, which imo would do it much better than fish oil and cinnamon.. If it didn't worked good, they'd prescribe fish oil pills to people with type 2 diabetes, or the ones close to getting it..
i have a big problem with putting on quality mass, and loosing the fat instead of the muscles, thanks to my S*IT genetics and insulin resisance..
( i eat right, sleep right, train right) i phuckin get fatter by only smellin a chocolate bar.. damn.. (pissed off at my genetics)
thanks for the input

try eating 7 solid meals throughout the day. taking the route of trying to control insulin levels you can do without and still make great gains. i have seen it many times. good luck, i think you are looking in the wrong direction myself.

You got the same body type as me bro. I gain fat from looking at pics of food. You want gain fat and you will only gain muscle eating a tub of oatmeal a day, i can promise you that. WOrked awsome for me.

I've used metformin for a while now, 500-1000 mg per meal depending on what I ate, I never go over 1000 mg at once cuz I personally think its overkill, I stayed pretty lean with a less than a perfect diet
I use it one month on, one month off, if you benefit from something don't abuse it

after trying most antidiabetic drugs out there, i can tell you that nothing improves your insulin sensitivity better than regular cardio and carb cycling.
There is an use for metformin, during precontest diet, thats about it.

You could take metformin before your carbup meal(s) and you'd be back in ketosis in less than 2 hours, and therefore saving it on low carb days.

Obviously I have no where near the experience that Vadim yields, but I've also come to the same conclusion. I've only messed with OTC stuff and some RX stuff like metformin and it does nothing. Got the runs maybe once but I ended up eating Mexican food that day soooo....
But yeah, messed around with a BSL monitor for probably close to a year and cardio and carb consciousness is your best bet. Limit your carbs and carb up when appropriate so you can stay full and improve your insulin sensitivity.
