The Wrestler
This movie is the current Rocky for the Over 35 crowd. Take a look at the attached trailer and tell me that you are going to "wait" for the DVD. Mickey Rourke's character is in so many of us who, each in his/her own way, want to one more time recapture the warm sweet summers of youth, the golden times. His face, his body, his years, his story, they so much capture the very best of what I see in here the Over 35.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGnO1oQk2_w
What does this have to do with what we do in here? The way I approach my training....everything.

Yeah! I've been waiting for months for this movie to be released. Mike Miller is in it, too.

I will be in the theater for this one and I haven't gone to the movies in at least 5 years. I can see it now, as the credits roll a bunch of OV35'ers in theaters across the country stand up with tears in thier eyes and clap.

I read a pretty long interview with Mickey Rourke in Newsweek about this movie. It definitely made me want to see it. The trailer looks great!

So does Rourke. He must've done a good deal of work to get into shape for this flick; I don't recall him in the past being particularly buff.
I thought he was great in The Diner.

I had forgotten about this movie. I'm a huge Darren Aronofsky fan. Anything he directs, I see.

I'm surprised that they didn't use pro wrestler Jerry Lynn to do the wrestling choreography.

Mickey Rourke has fought his way back from a well deserved reputation as a "bad boy" actor. His belief in his own hype as a young actor combined with addiction made him an outcast but he was and is a great actor. He has earned a second chance at a career by taking on smaller roles and proving that he is no longer a prima dona. I'm betting he has some good movies still to make.
I kinda feel the same way about my life sometimes.

Looks good, I doubt it'll measure up to Cinderella Man as an O35 must see, but I'll definitely see this flick.

Angel Heart is one of my alltime favorites.
He looks pretty big here. Should be a good movie.

I don't know......he's been pretty jacked in a couple of movies prior to this one. Get Carter is a good example.

The wife and I saw the movie last night. Mickey does a great job in the role. The wrestling part was a bit much for the wife and for me it was hard looking at Marisa Tomei. Not.

Saw it last week. Was excellent. I almost burst out with a "you idiot" after one scene in the movie. Saw it the day after I saw Gran Torino, the two characters in each movie paralleled each other.

I'll be seeing this movie.
Hopefully it makes me feel the same as Rocky Balboa did for me.

I watched Get Carter recently and was surprised how big he was. He was comparable to stallone - so it looks like he's gone a little further for this film. I'm really looking forward to it - and thanks to the miracle of Global Release I will probably see it soon!

Does anyone have a wife/girlfriend that would go to the cinema and watch this...? No, I am not trying to borrow one.
It would just take an insane amount of persuasion/haggling/bribery to get my wife to go see this type of Action flick or a Sci-Fi film. Her argument is always "Do you know any other woman that would be interested in seeing this...?"
Give me some 'ammunition' to persuade her please....
I know I can go without her but my New Year's Resolution is to spend more time doing things together.....
